That would open up a lot of free space in the country

If we're looking for solutions that aren't unconstitutional, then I think it'd be the smart move.

Someone on the left will find a problem with that, even just for the simple fact that it makes too much sense and its a good idea.

It's not one criminal per one crime, one criminal may commit dozens of crimes.

Kill a few criminals, crime drops.

Peace reigns.

Rainbows, unicorns, happiness abounds!

I agree with your last sentence but getting a gun (legal) here is not difficult.

The US has historical reasons for gun rights, that will never change. Advocating for more gun control will only prevent the good people from protecting themselves.

A criminal does not care about laws, that is the major problem and also definition of a criminal.

I know I am from the states.
Everyone I know has a gun.

A fraction of a percent of guns in the USA are ever involved in a crime.

The most gun crimes are in lefty cities with the most strict gun laws, like NYC, and that is why it happens there, just like it happens in gun free zones, because the people making those laws do not care for their common citizen and are actually guilty of manslaughter for making laws like that in the first place. Murderous swine gravitate to these places thinking it has a better chance they won't get shot or maybe even caught.

People should be encouraged to get a gun, learn to use it, use it responsibly just like all law abiding gun owners already do, and then when a fruit loop appears and starts shooting, they get shot themselves quickly saving countless lives!

(Yeah, this just makes too much sense so it looks comical I know.) But other countries did this in the past.

The pendulum is swinging; 30 years ago the mayor of New York city cleaned up a crime cultural worse than current and now New York is going back in the other direction. When things get bad enough the people will choose a Mayor and Governor who will clean up the city again. Till then stear clear if you can.

Let it go.

Im not the one that has an issue with race and politics or feels its somehow relevant to what transpired.

It's clear you don't experience the same perception of the media and dont live in the same culture.

NVM

And yet im still perfectly entitled to my opinion, same as yourself.

Again the man's politics and colour don't seem to have had much to do with the shooting spree he chose to go on.

Which one would imagine should be of real concern.

As opposed to what might have happened, or how it would have been reported, if he was white, which again seems to be really neither here nor there, given the fact that the crimes committed have nothing to do with politics or race.

Also still waiting for you to tell me exactly how the media are manipulating the situation in this instance?

You can wait till hell freezes, I won't explain my observed experiences to you, to have an opinion about.

Promise me you will wait quietly?

Or cant explain, but it's not like we are apt to miss the sort of anecdotes I'm sure you would choose to provide.

Ile be quiet when you learn some manners, or are at least able to explain how some nut job going on a random shooting spree has anything to do with politics, or how it would be different if he was white.

So pretty much when hell freezes over.

An armed society is a polite society

That doesn't seem to be the case (nor has it ever been true throughout history.)

America is better armed than any other society, and there's sure not a lot of politeness - as we can see through many reports here on ATS. American cities are famously more dangerous than most cities in the third world (Egypt was certainly safer than New York.)

I submit that a polite society doesn't have a real need to be armed because in a polite society, nobody has any real need to shout or get aggressive over things like accidentally cutting in front of someone in traffic.
