www.npr.org...

So the Navy may of heard the implosion and still let a 5 day search go on, giving false hope of being rescued. The whole article interprets to me that the Navy is more involved then we know?

While I believe you might be right about the Navy picking this up on SOSUS or whatever I don't think it's credible to believe that the Navy actually did anything to make the vessel implode.
I just don't see any positives for them in doing so.

According to the article, the Navy picked up the noise by using a underground cable system that is used to detect foreign submarines. My first thought was that they thought it was a threat because they knew it was not one of their own fleet.

The us navy may have known of the implosion last weekend, though with the listening network, they need to maintain the secrecy of the systems capabilities.

As sad as it is people perished, though secrets need to be kept.

Damned if they do, damned if they dont. Imagine the uproar had they stated it was destroyed (with nothing but the sound detection) and then suddenly they discover they were alive and didn’t make an attempt.

Discovering the wreckage confirmed that the sound they picked up was the implosion, it’s far to easy for ‘some’ to be so wise and critical after the event.

Someone on this very forum posted something about the sound of the implosion as early as Monday. I'll have to go back and find that post, but essentially the poster was saying that the Navy would probably release more information on it when they could do so without revealing the extent of their undersea detection tech. Or something along those lines.

Yeah that SOSUS that network and normally, in good conditions they are able to compare the sound with that of a known sub of any other navy they have recordings of.

Not really sure there is much on this one to make a noise unless its going down hard.

They went back to listen to recordings after the event. The Navy listener likely had no idea what it was that they heard at the time that it happened. The titanic sub company also didn't report the sub missing for 8 hours after contact was lost and the sub likely imploded around the same time as communications were lost. So, the Navy was unaware of the missing sub at the time that the noise was heard.

There's no conspiracy here. Some rich dudes paid a quarter of a million dollars to win the Darwin world championship.

They knew exactly what they heard. That's they're job.

Who was making the banging sounds every 30 minutes?. Can't wait till the black boxes are retrieved.

That was reported. Monday. US Navy...and they searched 3 days of air remaining. But the Navy knew.

The network in question doesn’t have someone with headphones on listening 24/7. The computer highlights anomalies and someone goes and listens. So while the network detected it Sunday, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they knew Sunday. But if they announced it and stopped the search, then now people would be going on about how they stopped the search without knowing for certain they were dead.

We're like children...

Easily distracted by things like baloons, trains, and submarines.

The Navy heard the signal of an implosion in the area the Titan was at shortly after contact was lost. I saw this report days ago while the US media was still selling "hope and prayers". Other international media sources were a bit more grim in their outlook.

While the Navy underwater surveillance system is a highly classified system, this may be why it was nit reported earlier(ie Monday when the story broke),I do think the US media gave false hope because it is better for ratings.

With a catastrophic implosion at these depths, they would have been crushed or vaporized before the brain could register what happened. In others words they essentially perished instantly. There will be no body recovery as the crushing force of the water would destroy any organic materia, while anything exposed to the air pocket would essentially be vaporized by the extreme pressure that would result in extreme temperatures.

Exactly. They Navy heard the sub imploded but did not know until the next day what caused the noise.

However once they put the two together they knew the fate of the sub and likely why some "rescue" efforts seemed to have fallen short.

Tuesday night is when I first heard about the Navy detected an implosion on Sunday, yet the main stream media ignored this and instead reported on hearing knocking noises to give viewers hope...

As cheap as this sub was made, I would highly doubt that there was a "black box" on board. Even if there was, at that depth I doubt it would be intact and/or able to retrieve any data from it.

Those knocking noises were suspected from nearby ships.

This was a case of "poor reporting." The main stream media reported this despite experts questioning the source of the noise, while ignoring the implosion signal detected by the US Navy that was made public before the "knocking noises" story broke.

While I understand that it is important to keep searching when there is hope of a rescue, I do think the US media was disingenuous here and wanted to feed hope to the public because it would get more views and clicks versus reporting the grim reality that the sub likely imploded.

Of course ..but we know daily, classified electronic surveillance by underwater military has been ongoing since the sixties. They're always listening. From Space and the oceans below. That's proven. Take care Z!!🫡
