boomer wars

I had a weird thought today. When I was a kid, all of the "teen" movies had a narrative. The white jock guys were the meanies and the nerdy or stoner guys were the cool guys.
All of these movies were made by people who are or were boomers (if they are dead). Also when I was a kid I noticed that the "party" type of boomers, EVERYTHING was about them. Hell we all still have to constantly praise their generations music, art, lit, political movements.

So on to the boomer war. This Trump vs. Clinton/Obama/Biden is just that. It is a boomer war. One side is the "mean jock" and the other side is the nerd/stoners.

So over the years (with the help of the Bush and CHeney family as well) the nerdy stoner architype took over. And they have the power now and no one is going to take it from them. Just like in the movies. They see Trump as the jock architype. He was fine when they had him in their pocket, but when he jumped out they all instantly decided they would take him down. And they are still trying to. I also ate a gummy today, so prob where the odd thoghts are comiing from.

I agree, no one is being forced, but I have seen about 10 HS grads in the last 8 or so years. ALways somewhere in the ceremony there is a boomer tune. No tunes from my generation. Some from the kids themselves generation but ALWAYS a boomer tune. ANd twice it was Imagine by John Lennon.

Both parties really suck. It's not a problem of which party is better. It's a problem of #ty politicians continually getting elected. And if boomers have anything to do with it, its that many boomers are stuck on the notion of party loyalty and listening to bias mainstream media outlets. Wether that's Fox, CNN ect.. Not that it's all the boomers fault, but they sure aren't changing anything.

We need to completely change the way we vote and unfortunately those who are older are less likely to change their ways of thinking and voting.

We should completely rid ourselves of the notion of voting by party and wedge issues. We should be voting on substance and those who have real stances and won't change on the whims of corporate lobbyists.

I could think of a few solutions, but i doubt any of this will happen as people would have to desire change in mass. And right now, its not just the boomers that are obsessed with party loyalty and warfare.

A whole 10 in 8 years? wow, thats a lot. Wouldn't we have to know which movies to measure how much actual impact?

You are giving a dying industry too much credit, it's dying for a reason because nobody identifies with it anymore. Even the demographics they pander to are so fractured, frail, brittle, and psychotic that they couldn't get a feel for what the majority wants because the majority has no firm ideas themselves.

It's not all thier fault collectively the current gen, they had a lot worse parents than the previous generation. Thus more and more of the youngest generation don't have the coping skills, will, or determination and some have completely lost the ability to find happiness and contentment in any situation or circumstance.

I am at that age where my kids ( I have 3 - my youngest finished this year) and neices and nephews and a couple of pals kids are graduating.

LOL Im not ragging on you just discussing the topic, LOL Im a couple of tokes in myself and Im confused you mentioned graduations and movies

Im suggesting while that's a lot of graduations for an individual, they are such a small sample size, and in a demographic niche that they can't be construed as too much of an indication of anything.

As I said this gen is so messed up they can't even decide the gender they are, much less what song defines them.

Dude, they see him as the rich elites asshole not the jock. They constantly make fun of his weight and bone spurs.

Watch some movies from before the Boomer era. Pre-Boom, young adults dressed like and otherwise emulated the adult society that they were soon to join. My hypothesis, is that the Boomers are muddle-headed victims. Was the Generation-Conflict organically grown from within? Or was it a convenient marketing ploy to sell Records and Transistor Radios? Had the Boomers just merged normally into society, like every other generation for thousands of years, their numbers would have ensured (in democratic societies) that they steered the ship. Instead they were told to "Tune in, Drop out", and "Hope I Die Before I Get Old"... with the help of easily available drugs, they did just that, and *poof* away went any political power they might have exercised over democracies.
Suspects:
+ The MIC: with a money-trail interest in keeping outsiders further outside.
+ The see-igh-yay: a usual suspect for "divide-and-conquer" ops & "here, smoke this" drug-running ops.
+ Madison Avenue: "a fool and his money are soon parted", but first buy these records, outlandish clothes, beads & trinkets.

The geriatric suspects listed in the OP. Yah, they're boomers, but more importantly, they are 1%-ers and psychopaths, as almost all politicians are. They are not given to sharing anything with hoi polloi.

Trundle stomps off, leaving the mead hall confused, whimpering, and somewhat disarmed. Particularly Cruiser (who attaches them later with superglue or something)

BidenWulf wakes up! Vows revenge. Goes to talk to the people who are annoyed by all the dis-armings. Hands them paper pitchforks and the next time Trundle shows up, they chase him with paper pitchforks. Cruiser is disarmed again and leaves the scene to find a Better Glue.

Trundle comes back, but BidenWulf is waiting for him. There's a blizzard of paper. Several WulfHounds show up and start chewing on things. The battle rages - who will win??

Stay tuned for NEXT decade's exciting serial "you think THESE times are a mess... just stop and remember the Trump-Biden years!"

Yea, I disagree with the Trump archetype jock he is pretty much the antithesis of that and is the snobbish country club uppity prick, who works for his daddy's corporation. Respectfully DJT could be dropped into the most athletic-promoting environment from birth and he would still be mediocre at best.

Trump wasn't the DC Beltway and he damn sure wasn't Hilliary, it was the perfect storm to sweep him into the Presidency. The irony now is there are some trains of thought if the DNC just left him alone, the COVID stuff would have sunk him, instead the DNC let thier scorn be known early and often, which made his base even adore him even more.

Now DJT is basically considered martyred to his base which is about 15% when there is decent evidence he could have been neutralized by his COVID response even more than he already has been. But the left couldn't give up that ghost, so they kept going to where he will likely be the Republican nominee.

Who knows maybe thats what they wanted nobody motivates the DNC's base like DJT

Pretty sure Im right on the Boomer line at 58 years old, not a complete convert mostly because I believe, it's not a generational, race, sex, or gender identification, Democrat/Republican war. It's a class war Rich vs Poor with the majority middle class stuck in the middle, as always. The corporations and connected politicians get rich, pitting us against each other, mostly on hot-button topics that get everybody angered and bothered.

Whereas if we eliminated term limits. lobbyists and leveled the playing field for all parties financially and bureaucratically for the elections we might have a chance to find better and more willing candidates, to push the current DC status quo

as a nerdy stoner, I enjoyed Trump a lot. A real breath of fresh air, and a perfect showcase for the corrupted media. If we are in charge, Trump was our most effective plant in ages, to flush out the old guard...

Business is fantastic with productions all over the world making more. It's capitalism, making money the old fashion way by making something someone wants to buy. Like gummies....

I'm a boomer in the studio as we speak, still making those movies. SAG/AFTRA, IATSE, still a nerdy stoner and proud of it.

We were too soft on you kids. We gave you all too much. Now you expect it all the time.

Some days I wish we could go back 5 or 6 decades and see how well any younger generation would survive.

No social media.
1 TV in the house.
One phone, with an actual dial. No caller ID.
If you wanted vidio games, you went downtown at the arcades and plugged in your quarters that you saved from cutting lawns which you should always stay off of.
