Jeepers that is scary.
If the sub is unable to get back to the surface-How can they be rescued?
It will need a lot of resources-does the coast guard have the capability to rescue at that depth?
Hopefully the Navy can rig something up in time.

Last hourly radio ping to the surface ship was 7 hours ago..
Hope they get rescued, but imagine the terror of getting stuck down there, unable to send a message for help, maybe with no electric and no lights.

Th US Navy has the DSRV , other nations have similar things. Getting one there in time is the hard part… provided that they are even alive now.

ETA: Nevermind, none of them go deep enough.

The sub is supposed to have a safety system that raises it to the surface in an emergency.
I'd be concerned that it got too close to the wreckage of the Titanic and got hung up on something.

Dirk Pitt call your office.

He will need Al and Sandecker for this

We still aren't close to the tech level of fictional NUMA even way back then.

No, that would not happen.

They would be sliced up with the jets of water coming in. The pressure would crush their sinus cavities in their skills. Finally their flesh would diesel, burst into flames, from the speed and amount of pressure increase. This would all occure in less than a tenth of a second.

This is assuming they were deeper than a tenth of the way down and a leak the size of a pin hole.

It is so fast they would not feel anything or even notice anything happened.

Edit: Fox news has just stated they have less than 72 hours of life support left. That assumes they have not had a hull breach and the life support system is working after whatever technical failure they have had.

That's very sad to hear. I'm too claustrophobic to get in a submersible and go a few thousand feet down myself.

It would be my Overwhelming fear of Dark Water that kept me out of that Sub .

There are just to many mysterious things in the ocean for me to go anywhere past the beach.

I'm with you on that..nightmare fuel.

I don't think this can end well

I waited to post that until someone else brought it up.

It is grim but painlessly quick. I would rather have it quick than wait for the air to run out sitting on the bottom.

There are less than 10 subs in the world able to reach that depth and many square miles to search. And the visibility is limited to the lights on the subs.

I'm evil, I guess. I don't feel bad about this. After they discovered this wreck, they should have left it alone.

It's a grave and should be respected as such.

Ummm, so are the pyramids.

Don't get me started on the pyramids being "tombs" DB. My post will get removed.

On topic: I seriously hope these people come out of this alive. I can't even imagine the fear factor down there.

Did they disturb or observe something or someone who didn't want to be disturbed or observed?

After watching the interview with David Pogue, I'm surprised that this hasn't happened sooner. That video is linked at the bottom of the OPs linked article.

Or Unidentified Submerged Objects?

Lots of reports recently of UAP's entering oceans and seas.

Newer information here suggest that it might be stuck in the ship's wreckage, unknown which part.

It seems the chap who runs the diving expedition company is also on board.

Sky News also understands that French submersible pilot, Paul-Henry Nargeolet, and chief executive and founder of OceanGate Expeditions, Stockton Rush, were also on board.
