Your missing the point
Passing state legislature does not infringe on the 2a
the 2a is specifically restrictive of federal government, NOT states rights

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

So States can infringe on rights guaranteed to citizens by the Constitution? Speech, religion, etc?

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

No. The Bill of Rights is a right secured to the people so 9th and 10th do not override the Bill of Rights.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. State and local legislation often times are found to be in violation of the 2nd amendment.
Columbia v Heller
McDonald v Chicago
NYSRPA v Bruen
Hardaway v Nigrelli

To name a few. Honestly, if there was a Constitutional Amendment to ban any policy from the looney left, it would go farther towards a safer America than any gun law could.

i suppose that's debatable but if you support the constitution then you have to support the 10th Amendment? no?
we don't get to pick and choose out of convenience for the sake of argument

but we can debate i suppose

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

But, the States are held to the Constitution and Bill of Rights also.

They're so "pro choice". They should abort him.

there is legal precedent for this yes, does that make it right?
I could show many examples of legal precedent that was established and later thrown out, mostly due to change in political leadership agendas and big big pockets, but that still doesnt make it right

the 10th is very clearly written and with clear intent

I am well aware of the 10th amendment, what it says and the intent behind it. I'm also well aware that it is one of the most federally abused and ignored amendments, either thru direct legislation or indirectly thru federal payment programs. Regardless, ALL legislation, be it federal, state or local, is subject to passing constitutional muster.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Are there other Constitutionally guaranteed rights that can be taken away by the states, or are we just picking and choosing gun rights as the exception?

isnt this how we ended up with special interest groups that fight for and against legislation, like the NRA or NAACP?
we would definitely get a more clear picture if we asked one of them these questions, just be prepared for political and special interest bias

List of interest groups

No, that makes no sense. Either legislation follows the Constitution or it doesn't. It's that simple and has nothing to do with lobbyists or special interests.

i agree, it does not make sense, yet here we are looking at a list of special interest groups that debate whether or not laws are or are not constitutional.

edit for correction: these groups do not debate, they legally challenge

Newsom is a globalist scumbag. His voters are worse than he is. Flood the country with criminals and then takes our means of defense.

I would argue that it shows that both sides are equally to blame.
When I answered the survey questions I was surprised to learn that republicans were more in favor of certain restrictions than I thought and that democrats were less in favor of others.

sry had to upload the images first... but i was very surprised at the results i got from this one...
