I realise it’s been a long time since the observatory was close due to FBI closure .

I came across this article, though any thoughts if the story is a cover for end of world doom.

It seem odd the story of the laptop been found all over the facility and thd scientist not reporting it, considering seeing inappropriate images on it, and not reporting it.

I’m still on the fence.

In my opinion the FBI/kiddie porn story is complete and total BS. The FBI has 56 field offices around the country I have never heard of an operation like this anywhere else. Even the local sheriff was in the dark. I don’t know what happened at that facility, but that lame story was BS.

I agree it is bs. I believe they discovered something in the cosmos, that will have a detrimental impact on life on earth, and this shut down was to cleanse data and evidence.

Maybe they were caught zooming in on White Sands Missile range? It’s still a highly classified area, lots a weird weapons tests still go on there.

I remember a thread on this subject, very strange what went on. It is worthy of deeper study, but like many of these stories it gets almost no reports and is lost in the noise of the absurd politics and other news. It seems like I've become over saturated with information to the point where I'm letting go of and forgetting such stories.

I've become jaded to conspiracies of true interest I believe. I need to come up with a filtering method that puts emphasis on the stories with potential conspiracies involved. Even with that, I'd have a library of under investigated story leads left to max out my weary mind.

It the observatory still closed? I had assumed that at some point they had re-opened it. I think they have.

If it's still closed, that's definitely weird. It was all weird and questionable to begin with, but the entire facility being left in limbo because a janitor had dirty pictures on a laptop computer?

The area is forest, perhaps the telescope is on National Forest land.

I haven't been in the area in quite awhile, but it was not very populated.

It was and is a strange story tho'.

Its not a typical telescope that would be able to find things in the cosmos, its for looking at the sun, trying to look into space or anything terrestrial wouldn't even be anywhere near bright enough to show up.

The story of kiddie porn was of course false, no report of any court proceedings to convict the suspected child pornster ever materialized. Things like that are generally big news in the media.

I got it second hand from a guy that knows a guy that since the observatory went from being a government funded and ran facility to a privately ran one, that certain equipment was being removed that they would have preferred not to be discussed or become public knowledge. So a cover story was quickly constructed when the whole thing blew up into a giant production. Ordinarily it would have just been a quick removal of the equipment with a day off for the employees and nobody is any wiser.

If I recall correctly they also shut down the local post office at the same time. How pictures on a computer in an observatory links to the local USPS getting temporarily closed is a mystery in itself.
Maybe someone was making sure something did not get mailed out.

If the government wasn’t moving sensitive equipment daily across the US I would say maybe so, but once one realizes just how much the government moves around by armed 18 wheeler without our knowledge has got me doubtful of that being what happened in sunspot. It’s such a normal thing for them to move equipment that I doubt they had to shut it all down for as long as they did to move something.

Why shut down the USPS if it was just the removal of equipment?

I remember when it happened. I live a few hours from the observatory and have family that lives there. They shut down everything in that area. When I asked them about it they started to act uneasy. I told them that they don't send in Blackhawks for stuff like that. They ended up changing the subject. What's also weird is in the same few hours 2 or more observatories went down too. One in Hawaii and one in Pennsylvania I think. If you plot all three on a map it's a straight line.

It sounds as thought something was spotted in or around the sun and the recordings and mailed info had to be stopped.

ANNOUNCEMENT: We are updating the code infrastructure that provides access to SOHO data, images and movies. We expect the work to take several weeks. In the meantime, you can access the SOHO Archive Catalog here and current solar data images here.

Checked this site earlier today and while the images wouldn't load there was no announcement, now there is just curious timing?

I am of the opinion that the whole town is just a front for what goes on at the Observatory.
Sheriff might even be military intelligence like in that one TV show

Head of Post office Rod Spurgeon

Google the name Rod Spurgeon.

A coincidence surely.

Same guy. He writes fiction and works for the USPS. His Twitter shows the crossover. Maybe working next to the solar observatory provides ideas for his written work? And shutting down a PO is no small feat, short of a natural disaster or security concern there's really nothing else that will do it. So security issue. Also, why the FBI and not homeland security or department of energy? Criminal issue too maybe.

Ha! Author of Who Blew Up My Ship?

Bold mine:-)

After losing their new, unused battleship to a presumed act of piracy, the crew of the aged starcruiser Galaxy doggedly pursues those they believe responsible.
Their path is far from clear as they find themselves facing unspeakable horrors in the form of an exploding sun, an invasive computer virus, a horde of pirate zombies, and incredible leaps through time. Can the crew survive long enough to bring the pirates to justice?

Or
he Wereghost Menace

When a wereghost invades an otherwise routine delivery mission aboard the Starcruiser Galaxy, the crew of the venerable craft must find a way to eliminate it. The task proves more complicated than expected when the true origin of the creature reveals a vile secret that a powerful government will stop at nothing to keep hidden from public knowledge.

House said he pulled his deputies from the facility after there was no identifiable threat.

“They wanted us up there to help evacuate but nobody would tell us anything,” he said. “We went up there and everything was good. There was no threat. Nobody would identify any specific threat. We hung out for a little while then we left. No reason for us to be there. Nobody would tell us what we’re supposed to be watching out for.

Another best explanation I think

oriondc
page 8 www.abovetopsecret.com...

The obvious answer to all this is that it’s *not* a solar observatory at all. We will never know what it really was, but was likely a chemical or biological lab of some kind. That’s the only thing I can think of to explain the need to evacuate plus the military helicopter, etc. it’s clearly a cover for something else, and that cover was nearly blown by some dumb accident.

Because it was equipment that you wouldn’t expect to find at an observatory. And the government is known for either totally screwing up when it comes to security, or going totally over board when it comes to security.

I’m along for the ride, getting some popcorn. I’ve lived thru so many doom and gloom theories in my life, I must have missed this one. All I know is that I’m still here

Edit: I just read the link, now I remember this. It just slowly disappeared over time.

Accurate.

I was EOD, I went to the ASP to grab some demo for a shot.

Everyone was at some event, only guy there was a reservist working as a GS-8. He just tossed me the keys to all the Magazines.

I said thanks, but I'll be back with a P2 just in case.

Then on the other hand, I talk to a guy writing a book that includes EC-135 and E-6 operations. He got it back from the approval office, with a ton of stuff redacted as being classified/National Security so it can’t be included. Despite the fact that the History Channel sent a camera crew on an E-6 mission and filmed the entire launch process from start to finish, and Stratcom PA has released pictures of some of the things in his book.

If they saw something... questionable in the sky the fed absolutely would swoop in and confiscate everything.

Many years ago when I was an FE on awacs a buddy (scope dope)was deployed doing counter drug ops, when they picked up a radar track taking off like a crop duster before hitting the burners and climbing up way past their altitude (38k ish) and away off their ability to track in a just a couple mins max.

They reported it as they were supposed to and upon landing were met by men in suits that confiscated every digital footprint on the aircraft.

He always said dont know what it was but someone in the fed absolutely took it seriously.

So if they caught something cruising by around the sun, yea they would shut it down to clean it up.

In this case, if the rumors are true, and the source I got it from is pretty good, this was something unrelated to their primary mission as an observatory.

Then, it’s either the porn thing, or something far more interesting. Be nice to know which.
