we should have blanket free speech. and yes, even someone yelling fire in a crowded theater. Much more disruptive things happen daily and no one gets in trouble for it. being disrupted at a movie is a small price to pay for that correct approach towards freedom

and it is complete government overreach anyway.. get bent

that's what parents are for...

not the governments business in the slightest. anybody proposing a bill like this should be jailed. get that dimwit Biden out and whoever replaces him must announce that free speech is no longer under harm

Parents don't always parent correctly, ever hear of toxic parenting?

Nothing has changed regarding free speech and demonstratable harm, they are just going to apply it to digital platforms is all.

all these dumb politicians working on nonsense like this when everybody wants to pretend we dont have a simple solution, for those that care enough. and that is... you guys ready for this??

shut your stupid device off or look away from your screen. the internet isn't real life. problem solved and look! no gov overreach and waste of taxpayer money!

Government steps in when and where necessary, obviously if someone has slandered a person or a company and they suffer loses from it, justice must be served.

Seems like the parents that hand their kids a cell phone to keep them occupied when they are busy or a public place are probably loving and just trying to get thru another stressful day.

But I'm convinced this simple action sets up a lifetime addiction. Im seeing it in teens that cannot function without electronics. Ive seen the hysteria and depression and desperation they go thru when parents lock all their electronics up to keep them in the real world. They remind me of drug addicts. If anyone hasn't noticed, there is an entire generation coming up that cannot function in the real world.

Im not sure what the solution is, but we took a wrong turn back there when Al Gore invented the internet. Here we are!

So if the new normal is kids will be on the internet for whatever reasons (loneliness - nobody around?), we then have to worry about radicalization, sexual harassment/abuse or worse, mental and emotional abuse, bullying...etc. If we now have no control of our kids being on the internet then someone or something or a threat to keep speech within certain guidelines online to do no harm should be welcomed.

The young people coming up are facing BS economic mountains they won't be able to climb, also they seem to reject the old fashioned type of working for a living set up that primarily serves their employer and not them. I'd say they are smart and if they can make it on an entrepreneurial idea on the internet then more power to them. Look at Elon Musk describing working from home as being immoral...who benefits?

I read a sci-fi novel long ago, I don't remember the title... but the main character was a delivery person that got around on a hoverboard type device, and lived in a lowrent storage locker. He got online with a virtual reality helmet, and that was his life. Online. It didn't matter a bit that he lived in a storage locker with just a cot and no other furniture. A box of clothes.

Seems like the author nailed it.

Was written in the 90s. Cant remember much else about it other than the virtual reality world theme, including the title.

Yes , and I also REMEMBER that the Left's PUBLIC Attack's on the Right Honorable Mr. Trump were Guaranteed by their First Amendment Rights as U'S' Citizens , which they were FREE to Express , but NOT By the FOREIGN PRESS . The United States Of America is STILL a Free Country in WE THE PEOPLES Minds but Apparently We are Now Somehow Not FREE to Criticize Foreign National Influences in U.S. Politics ? What the Hell is Terribly WRONG with that Picture ? ........
