So, this is a Prigozhin funded Russian Troll Factory spreading Kremlin lies and disinformation on the internet and via social media.

www.gov.uk...

Hopefully it has not yet infested ATS.

Just putting this out there.

*SNIP*

"UK-funded expert research has exposed how the Kremlin is using a troll factory to spread lies on social media and in comment sections of popular websites.

The cyber soldiers are ruthlessly targeting politicians and audiences across a number of countries including the UK, South Africa and India.

The research exposes how the Kremlin’s large-scale disinformation campaign is designed to manipulate international public opinion of Russia’s illegitimate war in Ukraine, trying to grow support for their abhorrent war, and recruiting new Putin sympathisers.

Sick masterminds of the operation are believed to be working overtly from an old factory in St Petersburg, with paid employees, and internal working team"

Thoughts, ATS?

What makes you think that every other country that has computers and money, doesn’t have “troll factories” to spread their own propaganda? This is terribly old news and nothing new. Every country is doing it.

Two wrongs don't make a right, I agree. But I am talking about this specific one.

Do you have any specific evidence for Western troll factories?

US militarized troll army on the way

US alleges China created troll army that tried to have dissidents booted from Zoom

The Vietnamese military has an actual troll army and Facebook is its weapon

Serbia's internet trolls

And so on and on and on. I guess it´s way harder to find a nation that owns at least three PCs and doesn´t do what everybody else does since years.

So if no specific evidence is provided does this mean western countries don't spread disinformation on the world wide web?

Grow up.

Just as we churn this stuff out in our own country, supported by your fellow democrat and republican politician...

I never understood why we could do it to our own people and people in another country but it's not ok for anyone outside the US to do it to those in the US.

Sounds like a whole lot of misplaced priorities.

Every government on planet with a moderately large security / intelligence uses troll farms.

Is this good? No. It’s nonsense that garbages up the internet.

Troll farms can also be used in the private sector and often are, particularly for new product launches (such as a movie, a video game, an mRNA shot)

And again, this is a thing that garbages up the internet and is not good.

Troll farms have been around for more than a decade, they were probably invented by software development entrepreneurs in California to juice numbers on the launch of something such as a AAA video game or a social media platform, and to contract out to movie studios, PR teams, and eventually government agencies.

And the age old question being... Do you guys live under a rock? It's not like we haven't discussed this on ATS to infinity and still doing so. Pick a news article. Pick a politician. How much tripe and drivel do you have to get passed when one speaks to you?

This is a facepalm if I ever saw one. I don't get the ignorance in this... "Do you have proof"? Yeah, open your eyes! Look around. It's not that difficult. Why do people do this? Why act this way?

This is a huge reason I don't like talking to people. This is something I expect to hear from a democrat than anyone else. Sure - just throw the obvious information around you like it doesn't exist for the sake of an argument?

I just don't get this attitude. Why make communication so difficult to ignore the obvious and play stupid?

And never a nasty hateful poster.

Unlike some.

Just an overview of 33 of 65 countries known to use troll farms. More specific sources per country can certainly be found.

I went to the Internet Research Agency and looked at a few of the ads they posted and, honestly, I didn't see much of anything that appeared to be untrue. Looks to me, they are just using truth against corruption. But then again, I didn't examine the site in depth.

Yes, but from your own source:

"Russia remains at the center of the discussion over the use of trolls and the dissemination of fake news. One of the main players cited by the report is theInternet Research Agency, a "troll farm" with links to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The report states that the Kremlin has long used such tactics to influence domestic politics by smearing opposition figures and faking grassroots support of the government".

So, there is that.

From your own source.
