They are going with a "individual risk based approach" whatever that means.

So your kid injured in say a car wreck. Now there is a significant chance that whatever blood the hospital uses to save them will also give them AIDS. Perfect for the manufacturers of AIDS medicine huh?

"The Food and Drug Administration has dropped all restrictions specific to gay and bisexual men donating blood, a move long anticipated by public health experts and gay rights activists.

The new guidance, first proposed in January and finalized Thursday, will not restrict donations based on someone's sexual orientation or gender identity, and instead move towards an "individual risk-based" approach to reduce the risk of accidental HIV infection through the blood donation system.

The FDA originally banned donations from gay and bisexual men in the midst of the 1980s HIV/AIDS crisis. In recent years, the FDA relaxed these rules, but had not lifted them completely.

Now, the new blood donation risk assessment will be the same for every donor regardless of how they identify."

Why? Does gay blood do something different than straight blood?

Blood is tested before being used. Aids got into the gay community decades ago and the gay guys I know were by far the most responsible with testing, condoms, etc. A lot more than heterosexual couples based on people I know.

Not a gay thing anymore. The 80s were forty years ago and if it was my kid in a wreck bleeding to death... give him the gay blood. I wouldnt care.

I don't think Monkey-Pox is a danger to women.

Good thing you're not an MD:

Monkeypox is usually self-limiting but may be severe in some individuals, such as children, pregnant women or persons with immune suppression due to other health conditions. Source

I donate plasma
been doing it for years.

They ask you there if you are homosexual,
inject drugs, piercings tattoos (recent)
and out of country status (recent)

There were TONS of homeless drug injecting
homosexuals going in and just lying to get in
to get the money for more drugs to inject..

I do not think this is going to make much of a difference..

Exactly!

What a crass suggestion.

Isn't all blood tested first, anyways?

I didn't need to, I found that in all of three seconds of looking. MPOX affects everyone, not just men.

Under Thursday's finalized guidance, every prospective donor will be asked about their sexual history within the past three months -- regardless of their sexual orientation. If they report a new sexual partner, more than one sexual partner, and also having anal sex, they will be deferred. In addition, any person who takes HIV medications intended to treat or prevent infection will be deferred.

Did it change that much? Other than one year turning into the months.
