"Quite honestly, [guns] make me nervous," McCoy told Fox News. "You always hear about the accidents, of course little kids getting shot at. It's, to me, very intimidating. And so I want to be more comfortable handling them."

I read about this yesterday and really liked what this woman said.

Instead of the usual "I don't like guns, guns are dangerous, FEAR THE GUNS", she took a different approach. She educated herself. She took the time and effort to learn how to use it safely. Maybe if more people would do this, instead of the kneejerk "ban guns" reaction we'd all be better off.

Even just a little .22 pistol can be a great equalizer if there is a problem. Especially a small compact one that can literally hide in a pocket or purse.
Even a Derringer can work as a deterrent in a pinch.

Agree 22 with hollow points aim for the chest or face. The wife always has one on her. A co worker stole her purse once and told management she carried. Both got fired co worker went to jail. Wife got a better job just by word of mouth within a week.

Maybe it was my upbringing or something but it has always been self apparent to me that a 100 pound woman being threatened or attacked by one or two men needs to call upon the great "equalizer" called a fire arm. Hopefully a woman/lady has been trained and knows what she is doing or the gun can be taken away from her and used in very impolite ways...possibly on herself..
The following video is about women who are the fastest growing group of gun owners in America and....I DO NOT BLAME THEM ! The video also includes some of the stories as to why these ladies have decided to depend on themselves for their own protection. youtu.be...
Now the problem seems to be even if you are being robbed or attacked some idiot D.A. will go after you for defending yourself instead of the prep; which seems to be all part of the program of destroying our society. Better to be judged by a jury than carried by six to a grave still rings true IMO ...

I disagree with the .22. Go with a .380. A bit more stopping power for just a little more recoil.

As a woman who has a husband who owns a lot of guns, I have shot plenty. I am still slightly fearful, and that fear provides me with a healthy respect for said firearms. I am wholly cognizant of the damage they can do and that fear causes me to be extremely careful and safe. So I would counter that this is a good thing, and I am not a liberal.
What I do understand is that I need more training to carry comfortably.
