Slowly, as more information starts to come out, we are starting to get the picture on what happened at FOX and why Tucker was sacked. It would appear some of the recently released personal texts from Carlson really "alarmed" the board of directors and led to his firing.

Here is one of the messages that may have contributed to the board's actions

“A couple of weeks ago, I was watching video of people fighting on the street in Washington,” Carlson texted a producer. “A group of Trump guys surrounded an Antifa kid and started pounding the living s**t out of him. It was three against one, at least. Jumping a guy like that is dishonorable obviously. It’s not how white men fight. Yet suddenly I found myself rooting for the mob against the man, hoping they’d hit him harder, kill him. I really wanted them to hurt the kid. I could taste it.”

Carlson sent the text message to one of his producers in the hours after the violent January 6, 2021, insurrection on Capitol Hill, message, The message was redacted in court filings and was just one of several private conversations collected in the lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News, a source familiar with the matter confirmed to CNN. The text was first reported by the New York Times.

These types of messages were redacted from the court filings, probably because FOX wanted to obfuscate the violent tone and equating the Trump movement with white people. They were released recently by the NY Times.

On the other hand, FOX seems to be bleeding viewers in Carlson's old 8pm slot. The last show he had almost 3.1m viewers and out of that over 400k were in the 25-54 age group, a very coveted age group. His replacement did pretty good, drawing 2.6m viewers with 300k young and middle aged viewers.

Meanwhile, that same age group, 25-54, tripled on Newsmax in one week, going from 150k last Monday to almost 500k this week. All the older viewers are sticking with FOX it seems, they make up almost 90% of FOX customers... but the younger conservatives are testing the waters elsewhere.

At least post the whole text, instead of cherry-picking the worst part...

Later in the text, Carlson admonishes himself for his bloodlust. “I’m becoming something I don’t want to be,” he writes. “The Antifa creep is a human being. Much as I despise what he says and does, much as I’m sure I’d hate him personally if I knew him, I shouldn’t gloat over his suffering. I should be bothered by it.”

He concluded, “I should remember that somewhere somebody probably loves this kid, and would be crushed if he was killed. If I don’t care about those things, if I reduce people to their politics, how am I better than he is?”

This doesn't take away from the fact that he said it, and voiced his disappointment at "white men" behaving in such a way, but it isn't like Tucker is by himself. Joe Biden (among other democrats) has made a myriad of racist remarks and is excused every time.

All I'm seeing and hearing is...If the dems make a racist remark, no big deal, but if YOU make a racist remark...

Their hypocrisy precedes them.

The loss of viewers in Tucker's time slot was probably more of a reason than any ethical concern.

However, it does appear that Tucker had become radicalized at a time when there was numerous 'push-backs' against extremists in the media (Alex Jones being one example).

Racist remark or remark that brings up race? Used to there had to be hateful intent to make it racist.

Stare too long into abyss and it stares back. He stepped off. And he isn't the only one *one either side* who is at the brink or beyond.

This is what pushing hate gets you - more of the same. The left will get what it's been shoveling.

A valid point. They seem to be saying Tucker is insinuating white men are better than others, which is not what I got out of his statement at all.

Where have you been!?

Just mentioning race is racist, even not mentioning race is racist!!

The OP's omission of the entire quote is also noted.

Personally, I don't think the comment about how white men fight makes this a racist statement. It only points out that the men who jumped the Antifa kid were white...so what? He was most likely pointing out that white men don't usually fight with a gang like mentality of 3 against 1.

Also, if you look at the continuing statement Tucker made (from the linked article)...

“Then somewhere deep in my brain, an alarm went off: this isn’t good for me. I’m becoming something I don’t want to be,” Carlson continued. “The Antifa creep is a human being. Much as I despise what he says and does, much as I’m sure I’d hate him personally if I knew him, I shouldn’t gloat over his suffering. I should be bothered by it. I should remember that somewhere somebody probably loves this kid, and would be crushed if he was killed. If I don’t care about those things, if I reduce people to their politics, how am I better than he is?”

Clearly, Tucker's disdain has to do with the actions of Antifa and confirms that with his last statement of "reduce people to their politics". This has nothing to do with race or color, but Democrats and the NY Times have to try and make all Trump supporters out to be a bunch of white nationalists. The NY Times went beyond the pale in their own article and stated as much regarding their view of Tucker Carlson.

Is there a "political war" between liberal Antifa and Trump conservatives? Yes. Does using the term "white men" one time make all of these text messages racist? Absolutely not. The Democrats and their media lapdogs just want to continue using identity politics to divide people by color instead of by political class. It makes them look more innocent in their own political dogfight that they refuse to bend on.

Burying the real context in a story is a tactic used by the media that has always irked me. In fact that fact is probably the most important thing in discussing this article. It's exactly why I lost my respect for companies like CNN, Fox News, and the New York Times. They all do it and all deserve to be shunned.

“Then somewhere deep in my brain, an alarm went off: this isn’t good for me. I’m becoming something I don’t want to be,” Carlson continued. “The Antifa creep is a human being. I have no idea whether or not Carlson is genuine or whether he is racist inside or not, but I do know that email does not answer that question. He discussed his intimate thoughts with someone he must have trusted. I'd imagine he'll never do that again.

Another thing I know is that the author of the article buried the part that gave context on purpose knowing full well most people just read the first part of news articles. I don't think any news source Right or Left is trustworthy as long as those involved are nothing but partisan hacks. That they are fortunate enough to be reporting in a country that gives them such vital freedoms and yet they abuse it sickens me.

Either way, Carlson won't suffer much. With a following the size of his, he will just take them with him as he finds a new home. I find him entertaining but like all others, I don't trust him any more than I do anyone else in the news business.

I know I have said similar things about what the media environment does to me. I don't like how it tries to twist me. I don't like thoughts that try to Creep in. I don't want to be what it pushes me toward.

I see that Klassified has already provided the full context of the quote that you omitted, so I will only add that I have much respect for a person who is capable of that kind of self-examination and introspection to question their own words and feelings.

I don't like the "White/Black" mindset, but Tucker didn't come up with that all by his lonesome. We're all labeled by our skin color these days. It pervades every aspect of society whether we want it to or not. Even if we personally don't view the world that way, we have to find a way to exist and live in a world that does.

If more people were capable of the self-examination and introspection that Tucker exhibited -- and understand that it's a never-ending process -- we'd all be in a better place.

I think a lot of us are feeling the same way. Every time I see 'police brutality' videos on the news-where they pull a person over for a traffic violation and that person refuses to obey simple commands like' put your hands where I can see them' or 'stay in your vehicle' I find myself rooting for the 'bad guys'. (We all have our own take on just who the bad guys are in this scenario.)

I am acutely aware that I am becoming desensitized and loosing empathy. Maybe that's just old age, or maybe it's deliberate saturation of media propaganda, but it makes me aware of how vulnerable we all are to the way things are presented; leave out some key facts and the truth gets buried. What remains is propaganda that doesn't serve anybody but the 1%.

This was a private text, so he wasn’t putting in his media face. This is an inflection of his personal thoughts.

I’m not a Tucker fan, but I don’t see anything wrong with this text. Seems like he was humanizing the Antifa kid.

I fail to see how the statement is racist...it's kinda known about the jumping thing.
It's in thousands of videos.

I did notice that dominion and fox are owned by the same people though.
