Well we knew it wasn't about protecting the kids...right?

So the UK government is pushing forward with a new law compelling web site operators to have proper age verification...ostensibly to stop minors viewing porn.

Now I have always thought that if you want to find paedos, throw a net over a bunch of politicians and you will get a fair few more than in general society.

These people have zero interest in protecting kids, what they want is to restrict access to information for the masses.

Now Wiki has come out and said "Wikipedia could be shut down for UK internet users under the Online Safety Bill, a charity that helps run the internet encyclopaedia has claimed.

Lucy Crompton-Reid, chief executive of Wikimedia UK, warned the text of the bill could compel the website to introduce age verification."

Seriously, what good does this do anyone?
Kids learn about blowjobs etc in school anyway, so its not like they would otherwise have grown up chaste and unknowing.

If you want to censor stuff, start with yourself!

Louisiana did it here in the US and I think a couple other states are attempting to do the same thing.

I imagine you would find lots if you did that to these people calling to censor stuff like this

The thing is, the powers that shouldn't be, could control the porn if they made it so that all porn sites had to have an XXX domain designation which is auto disallowed/prevented by all browsers by default and to unlock them you need to be an adult or admin permissions to unlock. Simple and not closing down free speech etc.

haha I recognise the first part as 1984 but the weird little creature is new to me, what is it?

I guess the idiots proposing this no very little about Vpns or ip spoofing etc and before a law is in force there will be a YouTube video showing how to circumvent this .

My sister works in children's protective services ,they already can tell who is viewing porn and the bad stuff ,she showed me one day just how many times this was accessed and I was blown away at the volume

Yes, this is exactly how I would like to see adult content restricted from child access.
