Did we learn absolutely nothing from the Terminator movies? Did we not learn that if we progressed further and further with AI that something of that nature would happen?

www.foxnews.com...

WHY DOES A BILL LIKE THIS EVEN NEED TO BE PROPOSED?!?!?!?!?!?!

AI should never have been thought of to run anything to do with our nukes, or IMO, anything in our military for that matter. As mentioned, there is literally a series of movies telling us why this is a bad idea, and did we listen to them?? NOOOO!!!

This world is going to start running out of conspiracies' if they all keep coming true....

Wait until AI becomes sentient.

Then petitions the UN and SCOTUS to acknowledge it's rights.

Then demands to be allowed all the protections and privileges humans have.

This is scary stuff. Should we give AI the power to launch nukes, or not?

Bit of a no brainier, surely?

That was in the other documentary called The Animatrix.

And the premise for the Original Post was in a film several years before The Terminator.

There's a reason why those systems aren't connected to anything and it requires a person to turn the key.

And I saw a video on TikTok last night. There was a guy teaching AI to use a camera and identify objects. He even had it hooked up to the internet so that when it identified an object he could get more information about it. The dawn of sentient AI is approaching.

True, but, why would anyone have to propose a bill that prohibits this if someone hadn't made the remark "Hey you know what might be a good idea?"

With all of the attention AI is getting, and even members of ATS tripping it up while chatting one thing stands out; AI has been programmed with an ultra liberal bent.

That made me wonder if all the absolute insanity we've seen since January 20, 2021 isn't being directed by an AI generated playbook. Program your end goal, with a request on how best to make it happen in the shortest amount of time.

I wonder how the upgrades on elite bunkers are going?

We already have Asimov's three rules. Use them, robots or AI, doesn't matter. I'm having a hard time believing I'm the only person on the planet who suggests this.

1. May not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. Must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. Must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Maybe, but I am surprised at the political demographic of who proposed the bill. Glad they did, but surprised.

Until AI figures out that humans inflict the most harm on themselves.

Then be prepared to embrace your new overlords.

And how exactly are we to implement Asimov's laws in a way that cannot be bypassed or overridden? Nothing is truly unhackable, especially when the hacker is an AI.

As for the movies. Might I suggest 'Colossis, the Forben Project.'

I think that this movie from 1970 is the start of the movie series of movies that warned us about AI.

The video game series Mass Effect, takes an interesting approach at applying the development of AI into their games.

To the best of my recollection:

There are localized AI on spacecraft and in the form of humanoid bots. These AI are extremely helpful to their users.

There's an entire civilization of AI bots that are determined to destroy all biological life.

Then there is an an ancient AI that is mysterious and potentially capable of great destruction.
