US special forces evacuate nearly 100 diplomatic personnel from Sudan as African nation collapses into civil war that Biden calls 'unconscionable'

The US military evacuated American diplomats and their families from Sudan, the country's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces said early Sunday as fighting between rival commanders that has killed hundreds of civilians continued.

The operation, involving six aircraft, was carried out in coordination with the RSF, it said.

Separately, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters the U.S. military had successfully evacuated US embassy personnel. The Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The White House has said it has no plans to evacuate the thousands of American civilians currently believed to be trapped in Sudan.

Other countries are doing the same.

The UK has evacuated its diplomatic staff and their dependants from Khartoum, the British prime minister and foreign secretary said on Sunday, but UK nationals still living in Sudan remained in the country. Announcing the evacuation, Rishi Sunak said British armed forces had carried out “a complex and rapid” military operation. The evacuation involved members of UK special forces and the Parachute Regiment.

It's not Afghanistan, but it's feeling very similar.

Watching all the German A400's U..S.C-130's entering over Israel skirting down through the Red Sea.

Feel bad for the citizens. They're the ones that suffer.

White House warns American citizens not to count on evacuation from Sudan. An estimated 16,000 US nationals are still in the war-torn country. By Shannon K. Crawford. April 21, 2023, 7:47 PM.

This is heart breaking! Our current administration got away with leaving thousands of US citizens behind in Afghanistan, and is now emboldened to do it again.

Our government has gone rogue and no longer supports US citizens abroad OR at home.

I wonder what it would take to force support of citizens or for any kind of accountability to take place....or if it's even possible at this point.
