US senate report concluded that the pandemic most likely came from a lab leak

Chinese researchers may have begun developing two Covid vaccines in November 2019, before the official start of the outbreak, a US senate report has claimed.

The claims come in a 300-page document, which concluded that the pandemic most likely came from a lab leak and was the result of a "research-related incident" in Wuhan.

It said the theory that Covid-19 jumped from animals to humans in a market no longer deserved the "presumption of accuracy".

The report argued that Chinese researchers appeared to begin development of at least two Covid vaccines at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in November 2019, meaning "SARS-CoV-2 would have been present at the WIV before the known outbreak of the pandemic".

The claims give further credence to the lab leak theory and support accusations that China covered up early cases of the outbreak.

The 300-page report, released to Axios, was the full version of a 35-page summary published in October by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

It said: "The Covid-19 pandemic was, more likely than not, the result of a research-related incident.

"New information, made publicly available and independently verifiable, could change this assessment.

"However, the hypothesis of a natural zoonotic origin no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt, or the presumption of accuracy."

The report suggested that advocates of the natural transmission theory "must provide clear and convincing evidence" for their argument.

It concluded: "The preponderance of information affirms the plausibility of a research-related incident that was likely unintentional resulting from failures of biosafety containment during vaccine-related research."

It looks like it's almost certain that the emergence of the novel virus commonly known as SARS-CoV-2 was a research related incident and as it is stated in this article and on the report, it was unintentional.

According to the report researchers started developing vaccines for the specific virus that is known to cause Covid back in November 2019 which directly implies the virus was known and around long before the official start of the outbreak.

There are several questions that can be posed in relation to the gain of function research and we all want to believe this was an accident and unintentional. Should I ask the question whether you think it was unintentional?

I just hope some heads roll over all of this. Our government turned the US into a crazed asylum with all the whackjobs and their homemade masks. Millions never got vaccinated nor wore masks and they're still around doing just fine. Myself and my kids got covid multiple times and all's good.

While China needs to be held accountable, so does the entirety of our government. It was blatantly obvious to anyone with a tiny bit of critical thinking that this virus did not come from someone eating a bat from a wet market.

Yeah, they attempt to conclude it was unintentional, but no real proof of that is offered. Can't find info on the writers of this report either to ascertain their political affiliations , if any. It is likely any report coming out these days that tends to "conclude" anything is "unintentional" is VERY suspect.

Even if the viral leak was unintentional, the opportunity it created for politics and authoritarianism was certainly exploited to the hilt, by the very worst people in positions of power.

A) Covid 19 wasn't the first, and won't be the last coronavirus to emerge, which explains why they likely were looking into vaccines, knowing another would come.

B) The original US report actually said it had LOW CONFIDENCE it came from a lab leak. *This* report doesn't offer conclusive or any substantive evidence it did either.

Exactly. It's likely impossible to outdo what they did with the whole thing, and the authoritarianism was so over the top. Blue state governors jumping on board with every federal scheme associated with it, plus sending infected elderly people into nursing homes causing what I would call war crimes using bio weapons..

Those people have not been punished, but they surely deserve to die.

Since CHINA killed more Americans than Osama Bin Laden, America should send Special Forces to China. Have them retrieve the person who would know the TRUTH about Covid-19 and bring him back to the USA for interrogation. The deaths of 5 million people across every nation, will provide universal support for this action.

We can't....we ran the show together with China....have to wait at least 10 years or so before Xi can be declared a terrorist....just like Bin Laden....train and work with them first, then turn on them.

That's a key point!

Was it really unintentional and why anyone has to believe this conclusion? Unless hard evidence is shown no such conclusions can be made.

For most of us it was a simple matter and a common cold and flu. But not for everyone and the disruption it has caused was unprecedented. You are trying hard to make a point but you still are unable to do so.
