They're going to dissect his brain and determine if he had a condition that would cause depression and any other mental deficiencies that may have triggered him into the rage !!

What modern medicine can't do eh 😎

Louisville Gunman’s Brain Will Be Tested For CTE

The family of 25-year-old Connor Sturgeon, who murdered five collages at a downtown Louisville bank branch on Monday, is set to have his brain tested for chronic traumatic encephalopathy

CTE is a type of brain degeneration that is likely caused by recurrent concussions. The condition can cause anxiety and depression. It can also cause one to have violent mood swings. Sturgeon’s family thinks he had three significant concussions in his lifetime. On Instagram, Sturgeon would often refer to himself as ”Mr. Concussion.”

LMPD Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey made the announcement.

“As far as the background of the shooter that’s going to be a thorough investigation, both criminally and investigatively, into mental health issues, physical issues,” Humphrey said Friday. “So, we hope, at the end of this, we have an understanding and a profile of what caused this to happen so, hopefully, in the future, some community is able to benefit and not have this happen based on some of the information that we might find out.”

Those who are diagnosed with CTE have reported symptoms as early as in their 20’s.

If they find he has/had CTE, does that mean any of us can be brain biopsied if we're not considered "normal"? (i.e. We're pro-MAGA)

someone should do a in depth study on why all these people go on these hatred filled shooting sprees. something is going on. I think it maybe antidepressant reply to: xuenchen

I think CTE can only be determined after death 😑

so their saying that people that got beat about the head and shoulders when young, parents dropped them on their heads when babies to many times, or football players are potential mass shooters.

makes sense.

Huh, so, we are looking to scapegoat concussions for his lack of moral development and rage control? I mean this guy purchased his firearm for this specific act a week ahead of time, he planned and worked a plan.

There was plenty of cognitive capacity and reasoning available it would seem. Plenty of athletes, playground injured kids with concussions that don’t over react and murder 5 people they worked with.

Narcissism, self centered focus for 20+ years via the auspices of social media and likely parenting, bolstered an already disposed personality to lash out when unable to face his own perceived failure.

Folks need to stop making excuses and shifting blame and confront problems upfront. Did his authority figures in life continually paper over obvious issues?

Is that supposed to quiet fears? Sounds like a reason to kill MAGA folks to me.

I must admit, when I first read the title, I wondered if CTE didn't stand for "Conspiracy Theory Experience." That's why I clicked the link.

I understand the resistance to accept that CTE is "just an excuse" that legal defenses "use" to help their cases.

I understand how such a thing can be abused. In fact, I have little doubt that such abuse has, at least, been attempted.

But I know people who have suffered GREATLY of this kind of condition. Personality and behavioral changes can happen. And they do. Most don't suffer to the extent of leading to toxic anti-social violence... but some come close... and some could, given the proper stimulus.

Where you might find no room for the possibility ... it may yet exist.

I have no idea of the case particulars outside of random news coverage an clickbait. I don't pretend justice is easy. We shall see where this goes, and who uses which meme to characterize this one way or another... prosecutor, defense... it could go either way.

Everyone is susceptible to head injury, that's also true for chemical imbalances and brain damage. It's probably worth noting that the way to a mental illness diagnosis is most often via symptomatic analysis. Some might call that clever guess work...

There's nothing to detect if a person thinks they're normal and there's no outward changes in behaviour. I'd hazard a guess that the definition of normal plays a role too.

To put it simply there's no fixing mental illness beyond routine tests and psych evaluations which would be silly, there's management of course but that requires a diagnosis which comes from a place of understanding. That's not where society is heading.

That understanding is probably best served from the individual and closer associates too imho. Also not where society is heading.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM!!!!

They try to find any excuse that they could possibly imagine for these people, yet don't talk about the root problem.

THEY ARE F'ED UP IN THE HEAD!!!

I don't care if they have CTE, MS, Palsy, hemorrhoids, genital warts, none of it matters. They shot up a bank/church/school/etc., they got what they deserved. And if they didn't meet their end, they should have.

Sidebar; I just recently, had a family member pass away, he had CTE. But here is the kicker, he couldn't function as a human being with that disease. He could barely breathe on his own, let alone have the consciousness to come up with some BS plan to shoot up a bank.

If the shooter was on medication for depression , perhaps he had an adverse reaction to it, causing rage and anger. I kind of remember this problem in the early 1990’s with young kids being very angry, super depressed , and committing suicide . The medication was literally making them worse . ..

BUT. ….since this is ATS … I’m going to throw this out there ……

what if any person with brian damage ,or concussions type damage , is affected by the Covid shot and boosters . What if the spike proteins and MRNA , get into the brain and attack the weakest damaged part of the brain .Causing severe personality change or rage . Almost like a mad cow..

Obviously , I don’t have any proof and this, it is just a thought , but we don’t really know the long term affects yet. What if ,the actions of the kentucky bank shooter , are the beginning of long term type of side affects . And we haven’t put the pieces together yet because it’s just the beginning ?

Thoughts on this ?

Once they can put implant to your brains....

Btw, just read the other day about AI....it can allready read thoughts by scanning human brain electrical fields....and make pictures from what it reads.

Imagine if you will.....a World where AI overlords is in control .

Interesting, Charles Witman was 25 when he killed and injured a lot of people in 1966.
He left a suicide note asking for his brain to be checked out because he believed there was something in there that made him do it.

There is a lot of... shall we say, overly ambitious?... information out there on "AI." In order to get information on thought processes there has to be a frame of reference, and I have not heard of any such frame of reference being discovered. I suspect you are reading information from "futurists," which is a politically sensitive term used to describe intellectually questionable people with big imaginations and just enough knowledge to make them dangerous.

In short, I would need to see technical data on how these thoughts are being read to believe it. I do believe there are a lot of people who would love to see it come to fruition. That's scary enough.

I dont know the technicals details , my information comes just from some news articles about it .

Fair enough. I'm just pointing out that those news organizations employ reporters... journalism majors... who, more often than not, have little to no idea about the tech they are reporting on. Thus, their own desires tend to get intermingled with the facts.

Let me take that first link as an example:

The pictures they are referring to are simply graphical renditions that indicate which general areas of the brain are using energy at a specific time. In the experiment referenced, researchers are attempting to understand what areas are stimulated in response to what stimuli. We know the brain is wired to recognize faces... there is actually a well-known phenomenon known as "pareidolia" wherein we "see" patterns corresponding to what we want to see. A common example is seeing faces in clouds.

The researchers use the EEGs to monitor brain activity while a subject is shown various kinds of faces: old, young, attractive, unattractive, various races, with various emotions. The results are recorded, collated for each individual test subject, then an attempt is made to predict which areas of the brain will experience stimulation when shown more pictures of faces. The whole process is an attempt to define that same base reference point I alluded to earlier, and it is different for each individual. Without extensive prior modelling of a person's individual brain response, there is no way yet known to predict results, as everyone's brain responds differently.

Just reading the article, one could easily get the idea that a person could, if hooked to one of these EEG monitors, think of a particular person and the device could then spit out a photo of the face they are thinking of. That is simply not the case. The device will spit out a picture of the person's brain activity in 3D showing what areas are stimulated to what degree. That's a completely different thing.

I'll look at the other links and possibly respond (if I have time) later. But for now, I will simply caution you to take whatever you hear about "AI" with a truckload of salt. There is no such thing as Artificial Intelligence (the ability for a machine to "think") as of this time, nor is there any real danger of it occurring in our lifetimes. There are a lot of people who see the possibility of using the belief in such a thing as a means of population control... quite the different critter.
