WAR: Italian Air Force Intercept Suspect Airplane Over Rome

Breaking News - Fox News is reporting that the Italian Air Force has intercepted a small "executive plane" and forced it to land at an airport near Rome. Fox is saying that Italian news is reporting the plane may have explosives on it.



It's probably just a "lost" pilot, but with all the worlds leaders in Rome today for the Pope's funeral, it would make a perfect terrorist attack to fly a small plane loaded with explosives into St Peter's Square.

If it were a terrorist though, presumably with the intent of dying in the attack. Why would they bother submitting to any demands to land?

Surely they would just carry on with the plan, even it theh were blown out of the sky people would still be aware of the intent and the extent of the efforts being made against then.

The terror, although maybe to a lesser degree, would be effective.

Well if it was cudos to the Italian Air Force for stopping the guy........Though I am surprised if he was a Terrorist that they let them take him alive..

No doubt. It's good to see that the Italian Air Force, as opposed to SOME air forces, is on the job when planes are slated to do massive damage to major targets.

oh c'mon dont be naive. If he was a true terrorist he wouldnt comply with their demands, instead he would probably land the plane in the middle of Rome.

I was thinking if any government wanted to look good they could engineer a fake terrorist attack and "stop" it, then take all the credit.

Why do people use FOX as a news source?

They are known to jump on any story that in the end leads to nothing, yes even silly car chases. I think they had three the other day :LOL:

Yes I do watch fox but once they break a story; I check other sources to see if the story is in fact true first, unlike others who do not.

Unfortunately, Fox News TV is the only one allowed by my boss, so I have to rely on them. We used to watch CNN, but the satellite we have now is focused on Fox.

Because they are a major media outlet, in the same ranking as MSNBC, NBC, CNN, CBS, ABC, Al-Jazeera.net, etc.

The unreliable sources for ATSNN are personal webpages and blogs.

when I heard it was an older model Lear jet, I figured we'd find out it was one of our Hollywood actors/actresses, doing their usual "It's all about me, the rules are for others" and making sure everyone hates Americans a little bit more.

It's not surprise if it's podunk royalty.Many of them have the same attitude.

I would have to say that although they are a major media outlet how does that make them reliable? Just because they are large does not confer accuracy.
