You notice I didn't say "of the year" because we all know when it comes to stupid, somebody is gonna say "Hold my beer", but these 2 guys are gonna be tough to beat. 2 men break in to a live substation, let me repeat that ..A LIVE SUBSTATION.. to steal copper. I have no idea why they thought this was a good plan, but they found out the hard way not to play with high voltage.

That fence is there to keep us from stealing what's inside.

What other reason could there be for it?

Yeah, it affected me emotionally, too.

Is laughing an emotion?

There is almost no copper in those sub stations. They use aluminum for the conductors. Copper is too expensive for the conductors in the stations and main lines.

Aluminum is more dangerous in houses and businesses is why they use copper there.

The neutral is usually bonded to the bare ground at the load side of the transformers. The neutral carries the unbalanced load. More than likely the “victims tried to steal that bare copper ground wire and when they open the connection they became neutralised.

Poop happens.

Yes kids, "DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE" means just that.

Several years ago we had an epidemic of copper theft, and two clowns tried to steal wires off a live power pole.

Or at least the investigators figured it was two. Wasn't much left besides two pairs of boots inside a scorched circle...

Sometimes fences are there to protect stupid folks from themselves

Imagine how desperate someone must be to risk electrocution and death for a little money. I feel for them and the families they left behind. May they find more peace in the afterlife then they did in life.
