Somebody has taught that 6 year old how to use that gun, just the fact that a 6 year could access a gun is bad enough but they also knew how to use. You don’t just pick it up from films or whatever not at 6!

I would be going after whoever that person was. Either that or MKUltra is behind it.

Don't agree that the kid was intentionally taught how to use the gun, other than by watching tv. Are 3-year olds and 2-year olds taught? My nephew and niece were both attempting to use tv remotes and their parents' cell phones when they were toddlers. Kids watch and learn. To wit:

3-year old girl accidentally shoots and kills 4-year-old sister

2-year-old fatally shoots himself

Yeah, MKUltra not so much. Just stupid parents.

What to do in this situation? The parent should do time for leaving the gun around. Of course that wouldn't be good for the kid, but it seems like this 6-year old is already messed up 6 ways from Sunday. I can't imagine any foster family would want him, and I doubt that extended family members would either. No good solutions.

He is 6. This is 100% on the parents.

More and more often it is only one parent. And there is the root of most of our problems.

From a Canadian standpoint, US gun control policies appear to be nuts, of coarse there are pluses and minuses to more or less gun control.

In this absolute madness reality very fortunately nobody else was injured or killed as this could have been much worse with several injured or dead teachers and students.

So the question is straight forward, and given the recent shooting incidents in addition to the history of shootings in Schools & Universities and elsewhere.

Should there be heavy restrictions on firearms access so to avoid further incidents and to avoid the loss of life and the killing of innocent people. Even if a shooting incident doesn't result in deaths it can still heavily harm those who are injured and change their lives forever.

Only a few days ago a former student of a private Christian School, Audrey Hale, who was 28 years old at time of the attack, walked into the School and killed 6 people, 3 children and 3 teachers. Just like that! Before she was killed by the cops who arrived at the scene after the shootings took place.

The number of people who possess firearms could be as high as 40% or even higher than that depending on the source you want to use. But common sense says it is much higher than what official sources say it is. The second amendment to the constitution gives the right to the citizens to bear guns. So it's not a question about whether one has the right to bear guns.

As violence increases so does the gun purchasing by lawful citizens. It’s truly an ouroboros for the gun grabbers in Washington.
If we policed criminals properly , then there would a less urgency for people to buy guns for protection.

Just use the same level of security we use at an airport at the schools. Whether you like guns or hate them, they are not going anywhere. Everyone has got to learn how to live peacefully in a society regardless of the weapons available. You cannot legislate morality. Everyone always says that they want schools to be safe, so why not just make them safer by using better security. We do it in government buildings, airports, courts, even some private corp buildings, why not use this technology in our schools. It's kinda ridiculous not to.

Also it is dumb to make blanket laws as a result of some extreme outlier scenario. At most if school administrators ignored warnings then maybe they should be held responsible.

What is sad is seeing a lessening of criminal penalties. Leaving a gun where a child can get it should be manslaughter, and get you 10 to 20 years.

We're so busy "reforming" people that we forget to simply punish anything. Having the parent pay out a couple thousand dollars out, then declaring bankruptcy hardly sends the message that society takes gun safety seriously!
