At least 25 cars of a freight train derail in western Montana

A freight train derailed in Paradise, Montana, on Sunday, according to the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office.

Approximately 25 cars were derailed around 9:20 a.m. near Highway 135, dispatcher Bill Brown told CNN. The train derailed on the banks of the Clark Fork River, approximately 200 miles northwest of Bozeman. Images from the scene show some of the cars in the river.

The sheriff’s office did not provide information on what the train was hauling. However, Brown said there did not appear to be any hazardous materials onboard.

I'm beginning to think all these train derailments are active sabotage.

Either American rail infrastructure has been seriously neglected or some jiggery-pokery is afoot.

yep live in montana (not near paradise) but the general consesnsus is nothing too bad ended up in the water other then the cars them self

dailyinterlake.com...

Officials with Montana Rail Link were working to determine the cause. Company spokesperson Andy Garland said there were no risks to public safety and no Hazmat release associated with the derailment. Garland said the train was traveling westbound Sunday at 9 a.m. when a portion of the train derailed. Approximately 25 railcars were involved. The tunnel the train was passing through was full of derailed cars, with the front engines just outside of the north end of the tunnel. One car full of propane derailed, but crews determined that none of the gas had leaked. A hazmat team onsite was monitoring the propane car.
so thankfully the propane car didnt make it into the water and isnt leaking, line is out for a bit with half the cars being in the tunnel so it will take a while to clear though (2-3 days) and you cant get to it by road so the local pd is having to use the water rescue boat to assess stuff and attempt to move stuff

I hope it didn't have toxic chemicals in it.

Was it a Republican county? They're actually doing this # like Ohio? Hey, if you cant cheat on the vote, kill the voters.

Donald Trump gotta come through with the free water bottles to save them.

There is almost a train derailment a week and I guess some of us need to wait for a talking head to tell us if we are systematically being attacked or not.
The southern border is compromised and there is no telling who is already here ready to kick it off.

It is both, but the NTSB fails to warn the public in a timely manner. Like most government departments lately.

Time to ask these carriers about the last time they did a safety stand down, and when they were last told to do it.

Yep, spring break-up around here. There is usually at least one derailment in the area every year. All these lines are in canyons and most derailments are caused by rock slides or wash-outs.

Yes, there are slide fences and rail break detectors, and they catch a lot of the problems before a train gets in trouble. But they can't catch them all. There is almost always a derailment on the BNSF line in the area about this time of year. A couple of years ago two locomotives ended up in the river. They got pushed off the rail by a rock slide. The crew was trapped for several hours in near-freezing water. It was weeks before they got the engines out. There have been several derailments since then, most 10 cars or less.

The line will be back in operation in 1 or 2 days. Clean up will take a couple weeks. The carriers get lots of practice.

These things really are quite common occurrences.

I think it's sabotage too. I bet it's someone acting on Russia behalf to get payback for US blowing up Nord Stream pipeline.
