Russia plans to station tactical nuclear weapons in neighboring Belarus, President Vladimir Putin told state television Saturday.

Moscow will complete the construction of a special storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus by the beginning of July, Putin told state broadcaster Russia 1.

The Russian leader said Moscow has already transferred an Iskander short-range missile system – which can be fitted with nuclear or conventional warheads – to Belarus.

During the interview, Putin also said Russia has helped Belarus convert 10 aircraft to make them capable of carrying tactical nuclear warheads. Russia will start training pilots to fly the re-configured planes early next month, he added.

Belarus has had no nuclear weapons on its territory since the early 1990s. Shortly after gaining independence following the collapse of the Soviet Union, it agreed to transfer all Soviet-era weapons of mass destruction stationed there to Russia.

Belarus helped Russia launch its initial invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, allowing the Kremlin's troops to enter the country from the north. There have been fears throughout the conflict that Belarus will again be used as a launching ground for an offensive, or that Minsk's own troops will join the conflict.

Why would you tell the entire world, lol?

I can see how that would come in handy with a war against Europe, but NATO isn't going to start a war. It would only be if Russia started a war with Europe that these would be utilized. I wonder if NATO has tactical nukes stationed in Eastern European countries, probably. In that case, it's just a tit for tat kind of thing, or is it tik for tak? Anyways.

I wonder if he's mad enough to use them in Ukraine. Hey, they're only low-yield, right? Do they make depleted uranium missiles, bombs? Where is the line drawn with these kinds of weapons. As long as it's conventional explosives, it's ok to use? Why doesn't he drop a fat one on Zelenskyy in Kiev? What's the West going to do about it, attack Russia? It's a conventional explosive. The irony is that there's apparently honor in this dishonorable Russian war of aggression.

Not for the little guy though, they like to torture them, execute them for fun. Imagine how sick of a mind you'd need to have to do this to a stranger. I dunno, there's a lot of hate out there. Humans do nasty things when unhinged and get a free pass. Imagine what the left and the right would do in America if they could because they're so fueled with bs from the internet. You know what I'm talking about, you very well may participate in it, you enjoy it. I'm straying off topic.

At least the people in power in the US can come together when they have to and the military men can die for each other regardless of political views. I feel like that's the higher level of being an American. This political mud-pit style stuff you find elsewhere on the internet is just a propaganda game to make people hate each other.

And that sums it up. From ass to elbow, truly yours.

Signing out.

Now that Biden has united Russia with China we can expect to hear much more about nukes.

The unspoken question, given the Russian military's demonstrated incompetence in Ukraine;

" How many, if Any, of those transferred nukes would actually work if used?"

I'm betting fewer than Putin has been assured.

And with the United States without a leader, expect massive global strategic and power shifts, between now and 1/20/2025.

Russia employing nuclear weapons in Ukraine would open pandora's box. However, the geopolitical fallout from Putin's action is foreseeable and would further Russia's international isolation. For instance, India would cut their historical ties with Russia. India's political leaders wouldn't risk greenlighting Pakistan's use of nukes against their country.

In my estimation, there is a 60/40 chance Putin with authorise the employment of nuclear weapons, but where that might occur is another matter.

We haven’t had one in decades.

Bush Sr wasn’t horribly but arguably set up the Middle East.

Clinton did NAFTA helping the eastern sphere for cheap stuff.

Bush Jr got us in the longest wars in our history.

Obama bailed out things en mass and increased spending on things that benefited failed systems.

Trump spent more in a short period of time than any of them, which is a high bar… leading to the inflation we have now.

And Biden is keeping spending high while setting himself up for a blunder. Though, I doubt he’s actually making huge policy decisions right now.

Sure, but strategically it’s saber rattling none the less. Kaliningrad has nukes, and strategically it’s closer to the western shield anyways.

This was to get in the news and make a statement. Belarus just screwed themselves for nothing, and most of these systems could have stayed on the western side of Russia with the same effect in Ukraine.

This is the only thing Russia can do. Try to threaten the civilised world with nukes, and to ensure Belarus is in a state of Russian occupation, just in case the people rise up against the local dictator.

this move was locked in when the conflict moved into the who can crash who first.. the west bets its going to be Russia and Russia bets its going to be the west in the meanwhile China builds it multipolar world that draws in Russia, it'll be happy if both collapse..

if historical pivots are anything to go by at this point Russia is more at risk from China than Taiwan is from China.. both Napoleon and Hitler pivoted from their island invasion plans to invade Russia after first securing peace with Russia. Iran also gets caught in the middle and ends carved up in the process..

how we seem to repeat previous lessons.

You know itßs 1984 when the german MSM tells you:

"Russia stations tactical nukes in Belarus and with that closer to the NATO borders"

Of course, if you surround somebody over the decades and come closer and closer to his land and soil, then this somebody can hardly do anything without "coming close to the NATO borders".

It´s the same logic like with the Ukraine, the morally best west acts like nothing happened before and Russia is the only perpetrator in this evil game to fool the world population. It´s sad to see how easy people are to control via the propaganda machinery, how easy they are brainwashed and on line with their war-hawk governments, completely ignoring the facts about how it all began, ignoring the fact that there is no good side in this game.

The global chess players, using us average earthlings as peasants, now plan a global world war, the third one. To hide their financial crimes, to hide the soon coming financial collapse of their faulty financial "system", which could somehow be delayed since 2008. They didn´t change anything to a better since 2008, they even made it worse. And now they try to cover their own deeds and make it look as all the negative effects of their own doings are the fault of somebody else, like Putin (who plays his role in this NWO charade very well). "Who drove us into WWIII"...

For me only one thing is certain, these global chess players, these criminals on all sides and all directions of the sky, have no problem to send millions of us peasants into certain death for their game of global chess. They somehow feel safe, act as if all that wouldn´t touch them at all. Do they think that they would survive a let´s say nuclear conflict on earth? And why should somebody want to survive something like this, earth isn´t anymore like it was before then.

We, the average earthlings, have to take any available measure to stop these megalomaniacs and their corrupt and criminal henchmen in the so called governments. We, the average earthlings, the victims of the plans and deeds of these megalomaniac super villains, mustn´t allow them to push us into the next fascistic dictatorship, to push us into another world war. Because we, the average earthlings, don´t hate each other only because somebody lives on another piece of soil somewhere on earth. We, the average earthlings, don´t want and need wars, devastation and misery, we don´t have to hide our super criminal doings with such moves, it´s always those on top of the pyramide, those super gangsters in suits and ties, who create all the bad things we, the avergae earthlings, then have to deal with.

How long will we allow those megalomaniac super villains to play us average earthlings like tiny fiddles? Will we again wait until it is too late, just looking stupidly out of the laundry, or did we learn something from the past and should start to increase rope and guillotine production soon, should start to decorate trees and free bodies of their heads full of anti-human ideas?

It's in our hands, in the hands of 99% of average earthlings, to stop that megalomaniac one, stinky rich percent from what they it´s doing to us and our planet right now. But as always, it´s more comfortable for the masses to simply believe all the lies, the propaganda BS. It´s wy more comfortable to choose one of the sides and support their evil puppet masters. It´s more comfortable to believe one lives on the "right" side and everybody else is guilty for everything that happens. It is more comfortable to completely ignore reality and join the gray masses to march in step, of course only for the "good cause".

If these anti-humans and their supporters start the next hot world war in my life time, the creators of all that misery should be ready to live with partisans, with rebels, with freedom fighters, with the average earthlings judgement.

They are trapped here with us, not us with them, we are legion!

That was my first thought. All they'd really accomplish most likely is contamination of the area it landed with radiation from the damaged, undetonated warhead.

Let's not be delusional here.

This is serious.

It is also possible that this transfer will open up "opportunities" to more thoroughly evaluate the actual potential readiness status of Russia's nuclear arsenal (excepting, perhaps it's submarine-based weapons).

Belarus is, after all, a former "soviet; they have enjoyed a number of years as an independent sovereign state, although a barely functional one. There may be those within Belarus who do not greet this development with great enthusiasm. And who may be in a position to "leak" certain information Russia might prefer remain unspoken?

This move is a gamble for Putin. In several ways.

As a consummate chess player (and martial arts expert), taking such risks is anathema to a dominant position; ie. "Holding the Upper Hand".

It is, however, one is forced into if one is defending from a weak position.

So what?

That poses no threat to me or mine. If it were in Cuba that would be a different story. Besides Russia's hypersonic weapons allow for strikes on any target anytime anywhere possible. Where they have the missiles is irrelevant.

Poland wants to host American nuclear weapons and many nato narions already do. Which is a hell of a lot closer to Russia than Belarus is to America. Kindly jog on with your MIC propaganda.

Not sure what the problem would be there. Given NATO expansion and escapades in places like Yugoslavia, Libya and Afghanistan along with the fact they started a civil war on his border that they are now using as a proxy, why wouldn't he beef up security?

As the US slides further into a fascist banana republic, looking forward to the day missiles show up in Cuba again, or better still Mexico.
