We’re almost finished now in this series of threads featuring Unsolved Mysteries episodes. This particular episode featured UFOs captured on video tape in Mexico during the the early 1990s.

First Aired : October 28th 1994

Segment Starts : youtu.be...

Unsolved Mysteries Show Notes

On July 11, 1991, the last total eclipse of the 20th century occurred. For the residents of Mexico City, the eclipse prompted a festive celebration. Thousands took to the streets as one of the world’s largest cities was plunged into total darkness in the middle of broad daylight. No one imagined that the entire country was about to be swept into a wave of UFO hysteria.

That afternoon, a television executive, named Guillermo Arragin, was videotaping the eclipse from a rooftop when he noticed an unusual object overhead. Jaime Maussan, a respected [???] television journalist in Mexico, recalled his initial reaction after viewing the footage:

“When I saw it, I said oh my god. This is a UFO, a real UFO. I mean you can look at it. You can look at the video and be absolutely convinced what you are looking at.”

Jaime Maussan produced, directed and hosted Mexico’s edition of “Sixty Minutes” or “Sesenta Minutos”. Eight days after the eclipse, Jaime presented the Arragin footage as part of a special UFO broadcast. According to Jaime, the network was inundated with phone calls:

“The telephone lines blew up. I mean 40,000 calls at the same time. Then the system was completely shut out. We received more than 15 videos and we now know for sure that in at least 7 of them, we can see the same ship that was recorded by Guillermo Arragin.”

Schoolchildren’s drawings of the UFO

Erick Aguilar, a 19-year old student at a university in Mexico sent in one of the many videos. He was setting up to film the eclipse from a rooftop when he spotted something unusual in the sky:

“At first, all we saw was a white dot in the sky, that’s all we could see in the beginning. Later we saw that this dot was shining brightly. It wasn’t a dot anymore. It was a larger object. And it was giving off light. It was shining.”

At about the same time, 60 miles from Mexico City, a businessman named Luis Lara Rivera videotaped a similar object:

“As I raised the camera, you could see something in the clouds. And it was a metal object. You could see clearly it’s not a star. It’s a UFO because it had a shadow underneath. If it were a star or a planet you would see clearly that it would be completely luminous. But this one had a little shadow underneath.”

Another video was shot by the Breton family in Puebla, a city 80 miles east of Mexico City. Magnifying the Breton video revealed an odd, wave-like disturbance behind the pulsating disc, perhaps, some kind of energy trail.

Jaime Maussan enhanced the footage and compared it to the Breton tape. The objects were photographed nearly 100 miles apart, yet according to Jaime, they were amazingly similar:

“The video from Puebla was absolutely identical to the one we had seen with Arragin in Mexico. It was the first time in history that you had a tape of two UFO’s in two different places at exactly the same moment.”

The videos caused a sensation throughout Mexico. But the UFO craze was just beginning. Two months later, an engineer named Vincente Sanchez took his video camera to a military air show in Mexico City:

“I was following one of the planes and I saw a shiny dot in the camera. It didn’t fly like a plane; it was undulating. I didn’t know what it was so I let the planes go off and I focused more on this shiny dot in the sky. What I saw was a bright round object, about 10 meters in diameter. It was made of silver, was shining very brightly and reflected the sunlight a lot. The object appeared, undulated, and moved around quickly.”

A year later, a similar object was videotaped at the same air show. This time the disc descended rapidly and mysteriously disappeared. Alejandro Leal shot amateur video of the flying disc:

“It was traveling against the wind, so much so that, had it been a balloon, considering the force of the helicopter blades, it would’ve crashed. But no, it kept on its path very straight and steady, until it got lost in the sky.”

Since the eclipse in July of 1991, there have been thousands of sightings throughout Mexico. There is no clear pattern, although the majority have occurred in and around Mexico City. The witnesses range from pilots to doctors to bus drivers and even, school children. But are the UFOs real?
It’s hard to deny the images captured on videotape. A skeptic would suspect a hoax. But for those who have witnessed the mysterious objects in the skies over Mexico, “seeing is believing.”

Beyond Unsolved Mysteries

The Mexican authorities did not offer any official comment on the sightings. Some thirty years later we can also see that this ‘UFO event’ in 1991 and subsequent ones in Mexico have failed to grab much traction in ufology.

Various parties, including astronomers and MUFON investigators, were not impressed by the UFOs shown in the TV show. Concluding that the low quality of VHS video at the time had produced artifacts from people taping aircraft lights, stars and planets. Especially Venus!

Jaime Maussan later proved himself to be nothing more than a UFO ‘entrepreneur’ when he played a major part in the unveiling of the Roswell slides. Slides which allegedly contained pictures of an alien corpse. But showed the remains of a long dead Native American child. Not one of ufology's finest moments.

I recently watched an interview with a scientist who claimed that intel people have used microwave technology to create steerable plasmas in the atmosphere as a way to "mess" with pilots.

Where I'm from, a Mexican Ufo is like a tortilla wrapped Mexican pizza.

You can do it with microwaves, but laser induced plasma blooms are what they use these days. And it’s not just to mess with pilots but to do a whole host of things. Which I won’t get into, but they are extremely useful for a plethora of applications. Benign to not so benign. It’s not so much because they are plasmas but because they are non linear optical mediums.

Mazers, microwave lasers is what I remember hearing.

Where's the source though? Satellites?

LIPF's can be generated in any optically transparent medium not just the atmosphere - underwater too:

patents.google.com...

Or hows about a tuneable DEW "shield" where the LIPF can be tuned to reflect the incoming energy to blind or zap your adversaries.

patents.google.com...

Seems to allude towards optically none linear LIPF's acting act like a phase conjugate mirror allowing you to "see" exactly where the DEW source/emitter is located.

Blows your mind....and that fact it was hinted at a long time ago ( @BP remember?) suggests it is probably matured tech.

The 1991 sightings in the UM episode were explained as follows :

Guillermo Arragin video - This only shows a closeup of UFO. No other details to make a clear determination. Appears to be Venus.

Erick Aguilar video - UFO shown in daylight faintly. Later shows UFO in the dark. This is consistent with the visibility of Venus during the eclipse. Writing in Sky and Telescope, Dennis Di Cicco stated, "Also, eastward from the Sun lay the planets Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, and Venus. Sites in Mexico, with their exceptionally clear skies and the high elevation of the Sun, were excellent for viewing these objects during totality. There are dozens of reports of people finding brilliant Venus a half hour and more before totality--not surprising, since the planet can be found in full daylight if one knows where to look."

Breton Famly video - UFO in wide angle with brighter object above it towards sun. The brighter object closer towards the sun is clearly Jupiter and the UFO is in the location where Venus should be.

This is interesting.

The U.S. Navy has patented technology to create mid-air images to fool infrared and other sensors. This builds on many years of laser-plasma research and offers a game-changing method of protecting aircraft from heat-seeking missiles. It may also provide a clue about the source of some recent UFO sightings by military aircraft. . . .

One of the interesting things about LIPFs is that with suitable tuning they can emit light of any wavelength: visible, infrared, ultraviolet or even terahertz waves. This technology underlies the Navy project, which uses LIPFs to create phantom images with infrared emissions to fool heat-seeking missiles.

Cheers

I’m not familiar with LIPF’s technology……but I can’t help thinking that any projecting technology for use in the sky would need a type of screen in order for the projection to be seen……..for the sky, I would think the use of clouds. I assume if you don’t have a screen of sorts in the sky to stop the projection beams from continuing further out into the atmosphere and eventually out into space…..the “projecting” of anything would be un-viewable and virtually useless…..imo.

Now Holograming I can somewhat understand….without using a “screen”medium per se.

Hologram experts can now create real-life images that move in the air 'Lightsabers' project luminous beams

So, from my new and limited understanding of LIPF technology, they are not projections so much as they are reactions at given locations in space that are steerable. Due to these factors, I envision that the reaction location could be where two or more energy beams meet, thus creating a phenomenon that can be steered in all 3 dimensions.

I sometimes wonder if that's what chemtrails are all about.

Some substance they're using has been gradually turning a layer of the atmosphere into a projector screen.

Perfect for project bluebeam.

From the link F2d5thCavv2 posted:

A sufficiently intense laser pulse can ionize producing a burst of glowing plasma. The Laser Induced Plasma Effects program uses single plasma bursts as flash-bang stun grenades; a rapid series of such pluses can even be modulated to transmit a spoken message (video here). In 2011 Japanese company Burton Inc demonstrated a rudimentary system that created moving 3D images in mid-air with a series of rapidly-generated plasma dots (video below).

The Navy declined to discuss the project, but the work is described in a 2018 patent: “wherein a laser source is mounted on the back of the air vehicle, and wherein the laser source is configured to create a laser-induced plasma, and wherein the laser-induced plasma acts as a decoy for an incoming threat to the air vehicle.” The patent goes on to explain that the laser creates a series of mid-air plasma columns, which form a 2D or 3D image by a process of raster scanning, similar to the way old-style cathode ray TVs sets display a picture.

My oh my…how technology is changing…..soon you won’t know what to believe when looking into the sky’s….

Article below from 2011….imagine how far the technology has developed since then…..especially in the military arena.

Here’s pretty much what you posted …..in your OP. Surprisingly it was not referenced by a link….in your OP…perhaps an oversight since it is customary to supply a cloud (www) and quoted source’s.

MEXICO UFO

Anyway….. I find it compelling that the same type of silver hockey puck type UFO was photographed/videoed in different area’s. Certainly a projection type of technology being used is doubtful. Hence some effort to dismiss projections technology back in the day of VHS recording. In other words Hologram type technology may not have been around in those days to experiment by any government to gauge and study the reactions of people to UFO’s.

I once posted, a ways back, that I have ….a dvd set titled….UFOs: The Footage Archives UFOs Caught on Camera The Complete Collection…..The Largest Collection of UFO-films ever released to the public. I highly suggest getting it….it’s a must for any ufo video library.

By far just about all of these films on DVD’s are converted from VHS recordings. By far there is a large portion taped from Mexico’s UFO’s…even exceeding the Unsolved Mysteries episode.

Without a doubt, I don’t believe that all of the Mexico vids are hoaxed. Some of the people taking the VHS footage are simple villagers with not much education…that I would bet ….did not have the technical expertise to, nor editing equipment wear with all, to create a hoax on VHS tape.

I just can’t dismiss them all as hoax’s and the Planet Venus ….imo.

I thought this was a thread about the planet Venus. Lol.

Since LIPFs likely explain many unexplained UFO sightings, as well as the 3, or so, videos that were released by the US NAVY, from 2005, I'd say everyone has stayed on topic.

That's because it's a virtual transcription of the show notes from the segment in the show, which are in the YouTube video linked in the OP.

No, not all the videos were explained away as Venus. Only the ones taken during the eclipse in 1991.

I don't know why I can't get excited about Mexican ufos.

So many hoaxes and that's where the famous Roswell slides slide down into the mud.

And other hoaxes seem to have come out of Mexico
