Listening to this as I am typing, so amazingly beautiful...

As I said I had daughters in the band I know how hard they practiced.

But these girls are even more disciplined and talented than Olympic athletes, they had to be practicing constantly for years

I enjoyed Otyken videos they seem like the feminine version of the Hu...

I could never be an impartial judge when it comes to those two videos.

The 2nd one is simply 100x better for.. uhm.. reasons unknown.

This was recorded in 1966 if I remember correctly ? youtu.be... Dewayne and the Beldettas was the last band I played in before entering the service...cause I wanted to fly.. Dewayne the lead singer died a few years back and Jim our organ player became a PHD professor of music at Okla. University.. Jim could play trumpet, organ, and bass peddle on the B3 organ all at the same time and sound "GOOD!" He did many of our arrangements... We were a large band with a Singer (Dewayne) trumpet player, saxophone, drums, base guitar, lead guitar and organ which back in 66 was rather large. Everyone could play a different instrument besides their primary.. There were times depending on the song we would have 2 Trumpets and two Saxophones playing to make the song sound right... We played everything from top 40 rock to golden oldies... I was making enough to buy top of the line musical equipment and a car and have money left for a girlfriend so I thought I was doing OK.

We did 4 show tunes a night to start a set and one of the show tunes was...... "Lawrence of Arabia" which we always got a standing ovation for our rendition; yes I know Lawrence of Arabia and a rock band but hey it worked.. I remember the fuzz tone and guitar cranked up while I did my best to make ARABIC type sounds which I can still remember getting goose bumps from some of the sounds the amp, fuzz tone, and guitar could make.. On the other hand I hated this song !! youtu.be... but it was a living so.....

I am glad I got out of music as most who stayed in (some very talented) are long dead now for various reasons..

Damn TCB that was beautiful... major props

Thanks! It was written for a girlfriend I had at the time, 1991. The piece is called "Lovely D," so you'd never guess her name started with a D. Ha ha!

So cool Sky, talk about from one end of the spectrum to another, found Hurtin and Big Time too. You guys could definitely cover a broad range and had the talent to pull it off, from a touch of the Animals to a bit of the Beach Boys and more. I get what you are saying about Tennessee Stud. Still, it's a catchy little number and would fit right in with my old 40 Funky HIts 8 track. Get out of my life Woman is soulful as hell, reminds me of Uptown Saturday Night, I always dig a horn section.

Evidently, lots of musicians on ATS, one played a few sessions with Wayne Cochran and their other band had a moderately successful tune or 2 in the late 50s or early 60s IIRC.

Yall were good, anywhere else to listen to your stuff

RIP DeWayne

It's hard to argue when he shreds it on an acoustical, like that

I think its some kind of fact that after one listens to classical or opera that for a time immediately afterwords ones iq is higher..for like 15 minutes per hour…I've experimented with this a bit..I actually got confused when I was experimenting

a reply to: putnam6 No not really as I did not know some of the songs were on youtube until someone set me a link. I have a CD from my days with "James Mobly and the Shades of Soul" from my academy days .. We won a battle of the bands in Tulsa put on by WKY/KOMA radio station and did a TV appearance on the Ronnie Kay show called the "Scene"... I would like to find the tape of that show just for old times sake; but no matter. James went on and worked in Mo-Town and retired well for a musician. He had an incredible range for vocals and could emulate all the latest greatest black singers of the day.

I started playing in a band when I was a freshman in high school.. The band was called the "Night Walkers" and we were a thing for a few years playing in night clubs (rules were different back then about 15/16 year olds in night clubs) and community centers until our lead singer and Sax player went into the Navy (Viet Nam was genning up) Then the Shades and finally Dewayne and the Beldettas. My bass player called me from the Night Walkers and asked if I wanted to try out for the Beldettas as their lead guitar player was going in the service.. I tried out and the rest is history. I would not trade any of those days away... No drugs no pot and other than getting blind staggering drunk it was a great life.. I found out I am not a drinker one night as I had pulled over to puke my guts out in a grader ditch. I asked myself why am I doing this ?? I stopped drinking that night..not totally as I will have a social drink if appropriate but otherwise I can do without the alcohol spirits of any kind as they do not like me or I them... hahahaha

I can only kinda almost imagine where the arts are heading youtu.be...

Yeah, I'm enjoying this Night Star... music soothes the savage beast... there is just something about all music, a common language but classical music done right is on another level.

that was quite amazing. I love a 12 string. I do hope you accomplished your goal with that song. It should have worked like a charm.

I can't give this enough stars, his range, and his power I could be wrong but there aren't a lot of lead singers that could pull that off...Brilliant the best thing is this is done so well that I want to listen to their whole catalog. The strange part is I was kind of into that Black Sabbath Ted Nugent Iron Maiden scene in the 80s, and either it's early onset dementia, long COVID brain fog, or our timelines crossed or more likely too much excess at a young age but I can't recall them and I should have at least known of them. Reading their Wikipedia it does seem when I was getting really into it they were hitting it big in the UK and Europe.

It's such a strong and emotionally driven piece... made me think of the best part of the awful movie Sum of all Fears. That is the power of this one piece such a great crossover. Eric Adams nailed it his version is better than the original

BTW thank you for your service, I knew when you mentioned, going into the service it was during Vietnam. Hell pretty sure you mentioned it on here before too

You've lived and experienced more in your first 25 years than most people do in a lifetime.

I can't imagine how it must look as a professional musician from the 60s, seeing what's popular now. There's a difference between being a performer or entertainer and being a talented musician.

Thanks for the star. I'm glad I could contribute something.
I also listened to those bands back then, in high school and still love that stuff. I was definitely a metal snob back then, but it was all in fun as the girls in my circle were Dead heads. But I secretly appreciated the Dead's talent. Now that I'm old I openly appreciate all talent (as I perceive it). I say that because, although Nessun Dorma comes from Giacomo Puccini's 1926 opera Turandot, to most, the definitive performance of it comes from one of the greatest musical performers of all time Luciano Pavarotti.
His video has a few more views than Manowar's version.

Pavarotti
