GOP calls for military intervention in response to murdered American tourists in Mexico

We all want retribution for our fellow Americans but this is an extreme solution that might do more harm than good.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina told Fox News that he would introduce legislation to “set the stage” for using military force in Mexico to combat the drug cartel

Graham wants a war with everybody.

Mr Graham is not the only Republican calling for military action against Mexico. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene said that the United States military should cross into Mexico and “strategically strike” the drug cartels, even though it is not yet clear who exactly kidnapped the four Americans.

Green wants a military strike to take out Cartels as if that would be easy. Believe me--it won't. They hide in the mountains, and soon the Mexican population--though hate the cartels--many of them likely would end up on their side, or end up on their side if America invaded.

In an interview with NewsNation earlier this month, longshot Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said that one of his first acts as president would be to take out cartels “Osama bin Laden-style, Soleimani-style. This is doable and this is something that I actually expect to do as the next president of the United States in the first six months,” he declared.

Some Republicans arguing for intervention have even gone so far as to claim that Mexico isn’t really a sovereign nation anymore. Trump’s former CIA director (and later, secretary of state) Mike Pompeo wrote in an op-ed on Thursday that Mexico “has either lost or abdicated control of vast portions of its own country. Its total lack of sovereignty was made clear last week when four Americans were kidnapped.” Pompeo was referring to a recent attack on four Americans visiting Matamoros for medical tourism, which left two of the travelers dead.

You know, that would be really ugly, America invading Mexico. Though the Cartels deserve extermination, I think that way might do more harm than good. The SA countries would all be against it.

Mexico's leadership certainly has been a corrupt monstrosity and an American invasion---very unlikely of course unless a republican wins the next presidential election---would be a horrible disaster, IMO.

At this point if you want it stopped or at least slowed down, there may not be another choice.

Last month Biden met with the president of Mexico and Trudeau which made me wonder what plans might be in the works.

All we've heard the last week on MSM is how illegal immigrants are fling to Canada and crossing into the US that way, like it's a big deal. Nothing on the thousands pouring over the southern border, just the handful from the north....and the kidnap victims like it's something new. There are more than 550 Americans that are missing in Mexico, but this last week it's become a big deal.

The news is focusing on relative minor issues in comparison to much more serious, long-term problems with our southern neighbors; something's afoot.

Maybe it's to distract us from the protests that are scheduled to happen in DC and around the country tomorrow? The news is strangely mum on the issue.

Ummm…Mexico has refused the sanctions craze…If the US starts an incursion into Mexico…then the whole of South and Central America will pour in to resist the Gringo…all while Russia and China ship in heavy weapons and missiles and drones and medium and small arms…

This while the cartels who control virtually every city in the US light the entire country up from within…

Yeah…cake walk…

It was probably never a good idea for the US to cultivate so many enemies…The west is only a small fraction of the landmass…a small fraction of the World population…and everything that isn’t the west is damned tired of the subjugation…

The west is in a steady decline…while the world becomes increasingly multipolar…globalism is DOA…and the rest of the world is moving on…moving away from western ideology and influence…

This is reality as it unfolds…it would do us well to not resist the change and instead prepare for that future…

Legalize drugs. Maybe with the exception of heroin and meth. That immediately ends at least 80% of cartel's money. Allow adults to make the decision to put drugs into their body if they want. We're not children.

I hope Mexico sends the guys who murdered/kidnapped the 4 Americans, to the USA for trial here.

If not, our Special Forces go down there and get them.
