Remember Ho Wan Kwok? Or By The Name Miles Guo? Or Guo Wengui? Arrested For Billion Dollar Fraud.

Steve Bannon's buddy,on who's yacht he was arrested and is behind his media company was arrested today for perpetrating a billion dollar fraud. He goes by a multitude of names.

“As alleged, Ho Wan Kwok, known to many as “Miles Guo,” led a complex conspiracy to defraud thousands of his online followers out of over $1 billion dollars.  Kwok is charged with lining his pockets with the money he stole, including buying himself, and his close relatives, a 50,000 square foot mansion, a $3.5 million Ferrari, and even two $36,000 mattresses, and financing a $37 million luxury yacht. 

As alleged, Kwok lied to his victims and promised them outsized returns if they invested, or provided money to, GTV, his so-called Himalaya Farm Alliance, G|CLUBS, and the Himalaya Exchange. 

Kwok is further charged with laundering hundreds of millions of stolen funds to conceal the conspiracy’s illegal activities and continue the fraud’s operations.  

He apparently lied to investors in multiple schemes. The break down of the scams is in the DOJ release below:

Hmm. An update. A fire broke out in the building he lives in hours after he was arrested today.

The FBI's New York Field office is working to determine whether the fire at the Sherry-Netherland Hotel is linked to the Wednesday morning arrest of exiled Chinese businessman Guo Wengui, multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News.

Firefighters were called just after noon for a fire on the 18th floor, according to the FDNY. Guo's 15-room penthouse is on at least the 17th floor, according to real estate listings when it was on the market for $32.5 million.

At this point, neither FDNY nor the FBI knows whether the fire was linked to the arrest. Both offices declined to comment.

Guo was set to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon.
