Topless sunbathing is popular in Southern Italy as well, I remember my mother commenting on it way back in 1978.

I never went to Hippie Hollow in Austin when I lived there back in the day (lots of nudists) but I did take a skinny dip in the Greenbelt one morning before anyone was awake and on the trails. Very liberating! It was so quiet I could hear anyone approaching and donned an oversized sweater and jeans before anyone caught sight.

I'm still kind of shy so I don't think I'd be participating in group sessions at a public venue.
