Right - People are tired of being paid in peanuts for hard work. Watch how many people start working once the pay is raised. Can't afford it? Well, maybe cut the pay for executives who makes 100x what their workers make.

Ive seen many places state that "people don't want to work anymore" while they pay minimum wage and offer little benifits.

I see a lot of places hiring. Most offer minimum wage or close to it. It's not enough anymore. The cost of living has gone up a lot and people can't live off of minimum wage anymore.

All ICI Unionized trades (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) were forced out of their jobs when the "pandemic" started. Mine was cancelled on March 20th, 2020, and we didn't get a call to go back until over a year later (if you were vaccinated), otherwise, they wouldn't let us on site. Now they want all of us to forget, well, too bad.

Mandatory vaccines or you don't work. So, now they're wondering why we say f# it, and started our own businesses or do our own jobs.

All of this is and was caused by the "pandemic" policies.

This is just the start, the real crunch will still take awhile to hit.

Also, that's just ONE industry, which affects MILLIONS...

I think it's psychological. Being lectured to, and assaulted, with why you should hate yourself because of your color or gender HAS BACKFIRED.

HARD.

Same for the brilliant defunding of the police movement or the disgusting grooming and mutilation of minors.

It's a constant pounding of a square peg into a round hole. You know it's crazy and nonsensical, those around you know it's crazy and nonsensical, so WHY ISN'T IT CRAZY AND NONSENSICAL AND APPROPRIATELY DISCARDED??!!

They want labor one week and lay you off a couple weeks later. What a life.

Not to mention, there are a myriad of other ways to create income rather than just having or seeking a traditional job.

There's resentment and a fair bit of anger that the standard job market is nothing but a modern day slave trade. Your just free to pick your master.

A LOT of my pals are striking out on their own.

I have seen many comments on a variety of sites and forums to the effect that a great many of these people have found alternative ways to make money other than working for an employer. What they don't say however is what those alternative avenues are. It's puzzling, but apparently they must be finding alternate sources of income.

Sometimes, I'm tasked with HR for crew for a production company. If you come in looking for work and you are negative and crybaby like on this thread, even if you are qualified, I'll show you the door. Good luck finding alternative sources cause you ain't working for this outfit. Come back when you get your mind right....

Something something….. about “equality”….. women can do everything men can do….. right….. oh wait, “they” can do it too.

The problem is you cannot teach work ethic, you either have it or you don’t. That goes for the poorest of poor and the richest of the rich.

Convenience has destroyed the modern world for the remains that still work.

I have this one gift…..I’ve been able to get almost every job I’ve ever applied for.
I think I cracked the code to interviews… You know what it is? I’m honest to a fault.
I never answer in the conventional ways either.

If they ask me a question I don’t like I tell them why I hate that question and why! For example:
“Tell me your strengths & weaknesses”
My answer.
I hate this question. It never portrays the person accurately because you are either walk on water or you seem like you hate yourself. (Hook line and sinker! At this point) Then I tell them I’m a hard worker that learns fast but am honest and maybe a little modest. (Which is reinforced by my honest answer). Then they think about all the other candidates that just gloated about themselves… buwahahahahahaah

Wanted: About 2.7 million male workers in their prime working years. A big reason many employers are still struggling to find qualified job candidates is that the share of Americans working or looking for jobs is at 62.4%, well below its pre-pandemic level of 63.4%.

We should make you walk naked like Cersei on Game of Thrones.

As long as no dirty peasant flashes his twig and bits at me...

Men these days are hard to find, too many males have been sissified and don't want to get their hands dirty or break a nail. It's not Gen X though, most of us were working jobs in our early to mid teens during summers. I was tossing hay bales on a trailer all afternoon for $50 a week in 1993 at the ripe age of 14, sometimes having to leave early for baseball practice. It wasn't easy for a young kid with Pepsi can arms (dad's verbiage) and no real technique on how to toss those hay bales.

You know, I think we actually are…
I am independent, but I live in a very right leaning, conservative area. I can’t believe how many “conservatives” actually have very socialist ideology (and want to force it on everyone)!

I can. I'm a conservative in a very conservative area but down here in the deep south, it's more of a live and let live kind of way. It doesn't become an issue until you demand we do what you think is right. To hell with what we think is right. But, as I've come to find out over the past 5 or 6 years, not all conservatives are like this.

This is exactly what I’m dealing with, and what they consider what is right is basically a monopoly type of thing.
A very socialist type of thing…

Why, so they can be fired or accused of not using the right pronoun or worse yet discrimination? All the while be treated like # and underpaid by the new workforce of unqualified lawbreakers who get offered more than they do?

Yes, and not only that - legal laborers from other countries who are paid on the books apparently do not have to pay federal taxes for something in the area of the first 5 years they are here.
Now an American working that same job is paying taxes.
Love to know where that law came from.

I warned of this crap back in 2019.

I said that getting government involved would be bad.

I said relying on government would be bad.

But NOOOOOOoooooooOOOOOOOOooooooo . . . .

Wear a mask, two weeks to flatten the curve, government checks, blah-de-blah-de-blah.

We own tis crap because as a nation, we showed ourselves to be socialist-Marxist loving sheep just getting fat for the slaughter.

I didn't need to look it up, that's introductory economics 101. Should I assume you think we don't have a Market economy. Supply and demand doesn't operate anymore? As an mfg., wholesale, retail entrepreneur, supply and demand determines what I make and sell, not the govt. However the market place is a fickle bitch and I have gone broke more than a few times; Not once did I blame anyone or anything other than myself for overextending and making dumbass decisions. Just cowboy up and start over. Nobody respects crybabies or high-conflict personalities always looking for a scapegoat. Except maybe on ATS.

time.com... older time article about it

Over the past two generations, America has suffered a quiet catastrophe: the collapse of work–for men. In the half-century between 1965 and 2015, work rates for the American male spiraled relentlessly downward, and an ominous “flight from work” commenced, with ever greater numbers of working-age men exiting the labor force. America is now home to a vast army of jobless men no longer even looking for work—more than 7 million between the ages of 25 and 54, the traditional prime of working life. (Work rates have fallen in recent years for women too, but the male work crisis has been under way much longer and is of greater magnitude.) In 2015, the work rate (or employment-to-population ratio) for American males ages 25 to 54 was slightly lower than it had been in 1940, at the tail end of the Great Depression. If we were back at 1965 levels today, nearly 10 million additional men would have paying jobs.
now it goes on to offer a few explanations but some are standard ones we see and others are brought up in the time article that the yahoo one didnt even touch ,numbers of felons for example and then there is the aspect that more men are on disability programs.

By and large, these unworking men are floated by other household members (wives, girlfriends, relatives) and by Uncle Sam. Government disability programs figure prominently in the calculus of support for unworking men—ever more prominently over time. According to Census Bureau data, nearly three-fifths (57%) of prime-male unworkers in 2013 were obtaining benefits from at least one disability program. No one can prove that disability programs have caused the male flight from work–but there is no doubt they are helping to finance it.
so some get money from family/partners and others now depend on uncle sam. i "been out of the work force" by conventional standards for over a decade as i was self employed as a landlord so unsure if they count self employed in the exodus but for me its what i did and while stressfull it paid my bills and supported my hobbies pretty well.so i suspect some of the "missing men" are now self employed

this link seems to somewhat confirm my thinking www.marketplace.org... i didnt care about the twitch/youtube aspect mind you just wanted to see how "self employed are counted"

How many self-employed workers are there? While it’s not included in the jobs report, the BLS does hone in how many workers are self-employed in a given month. As of September 2021, overall there were more than 10 million unincorporated self-employed workers in the U.S. ages 16 and over, according to monthly data. The BLS breaks down self-employed workers by industry on an annual basis.
so that may explain some of the issue of missing men

i know from personal observations almost every business near me is having trouble keeping full time or even part time employees ,our wallmart is now almost entirely staffed by senior citizens say from about 55 and up age wise for example (at our whoppping 4 check out stations that aren't automated) and id say 90 percent of them are female .

now since ive shut down my rentals ive lost the insight but for the last year doing them through covid i did notice a trend ,most of my tenants were young(18-25) and only one of them kept the same job for more then a year (he worked at orileys) most bounced from job to job about every 2-4 months with some of them switching weekly/every other week which was some what confusing and very stressfull income wise to them and by extension me . it was also weird seeing how some of them had ridiculous skills for there ages (one male was a certified welder and worked in past making rifle barrels) yet none of them used such skills in there jobs, the above example he ended up working at a tire place vs say as a welder which would have paid vastly more ,then went to work at a car wash which paid almost nothing here.

now the female tenants while some did "job hop" it wasnt as frequent and they tended to either improve pay or use experience gained in one field to advance in a higher paying one , one female 18 started as a house keeper made about 12 an hour now works at the local hospital making close to 22 an hour doing pretty much the same thing but with health care and benefits (shes now 20?) another one 18f had worked as a cashier at the local market (she was still in hs) but by 19 was promoted to the hiring manager and finally the entire meat department by 20. shes not the best test subject though in the sense that now(2023) shes "retired" as she inherited a pretty hefty trust fund from her grand father and is working on starting her own clothing and craft line via online.

having had both her and her brother as tenants in past year i did notice in her case and generally the female ones had a higher drive and better goals and work ethic then there male counter parts ,her brother for example had 23 jobs in 7 months of living with me compared to her 1(really 3 w promotions) which she held for mutiple years so this could also be a factor in the over all jobs market is that perhaps some males dont want to enter the work force as much as there female equivalents ,now my age group is lower then the article in question but with only one exception the females outworked out earned and out performed my male tenants some cases vastly.the male with the stable job was also much older and had a child to support and child support to pay but also is a self described work-a-holic. none of them had a degree and about half the males had diplomas compared to all but one of the females having a hs diploma.

Im in montana though not like a "major state" population wise say vs california or new york

Often.

But you would endorse Command Economy over Free Market Economy.

I only say this through years of your posts validating the assertion.

You can scream about being a "Libertarian" all you want.

Hell, I can call myself a vegan, but if I spent years pushing for eating meat, my label as "vegan" would fall flat.
