I think it's psychological. Being lectured to, and assaulted, with why you should hate yourself because of your color or gender HAS BACKFIRED.
HARD.
Same for the brilliant defunding of the police movement or the disgusting grooming and mutilation of minors.
It's a constant pounding of a square peg into a round hole. You know it's crazy and nonsensical, those around you know it's crazy and nonsensical, so WHY ISN'T IT CRAZY AND NONSENSICAL AND APPROPRIATELY DISCARDED??!!
They want labor one week and lay you off a couple weeks later. What a life.
Not to mention, there are a myriad of other ways to create income rather than just having or seeking a traditional job.
There's resentment and a fair bit of anger that the standard job market is nothing but a modern day slave trade. Your just free to pick your master.
A LOT of my pals are striking out on their own.

Sometimes, I'm tasked with HR for crew for a production company. If you come in looking for work and you are negative and crybaby like on this thread, even if you are qualified, I'll show you the door. Good luck finding alternative sources cause you ain't working for this outfit. Come back when you get your mind right....

Who saw this coming a mile away? If you want to read a Disgusting article click on this..
Here
Wanted: About 2.7 million male workers in their prime working years. A big reason many employers are still struggling to find qualified job candidates is that the share of Americans working or looking for jobs is at 62.4%, well below its pre-pandemic level of 63.4%.
We should make you walk naked like Cersei on Game of Thrones.

We own tis crap because as a nation, we showed ourselves to be socialist-Marxist loving sheep just getting fat for the slaughter.
You know, I think we actually are…
I am independent, but I live in a very right leaning, conservative area. I can’t believe how many “conservatives” actually have very socialist ideology (and want to force it on everyone)!

Why, so they can be fired or accused of not using the right pronoun or worse yet discrimination? All the while be treated like # and underpaid by the new workforce of unqualified lawbreakers who get offered more than they do?

I warned of this crap back in 2019.
I said that getting government involved would be bad.
I said relying on government would be bad.
But NOOOOOOoooooooOOOOOOOOooooooo . . . .
Wear a mask, two weeks to flatten the curve, government checks, blah-de-blah-de-blah.
We own tis crap because as a nation, we showed ourselves to be socialist-Marxist loving sheep just getting fat for the slaughter.

Look up Command Capitalism or Command Economy.
now it goes on to offer a few explanations but some are standard ones we see and others are brought up in the time article that the yahoo one didnt even touch ,numbers of felons for example and then there is the aspect that more men are on disability programs.
Over the past two generations, America has suffered a quiet catastrophe: the collapse of work–for men. In the half-century between 1965 and 2015, work rates for the American male spiraled relentlessly downward, and an ominous “flight from work” commenced, with ever greater numbers of working-age men exiting the labor force. America is now home to a vast army of jobless men no longer even looking for work—more than 7 million between the ages of 25 and 54, the traditional prime of working life. (Work rates have fallen in recent years for women too, but the male work crisis has been under way much longer and is of greater magnitude.) In 2015, the work rate (or employment-to-population ratio) for American males ages 25 to 54 was slightly lower than it had been in 1940, at the tail end of the Great Depression. If we were back at 1965 levels today, nearly 10 million additional men would have paying jobs.
so some get money from family/partners and others now depend on uncle sam. i "been out of the work force" by conventional standards for over a decade as i was self employed as a landlord so unsure if they count self employed in the exodus but for me its what i did and while stressfull it paid my bills and supported my hobbies pretty well.so i suspect some of the "missing men" are now self employed
By and large, these unworking men are floated by other household members (wives, girlfriends, relatives) and by Uncle Sam. Government disability programs figure prominently in the calculus of support for unworking men—ever more prominently over time. According to Census Bureau data, nearly three-fifths (57%) of prime-male unworkers in 2013 were obtaining benefits from at least one disability program. No one can prove that disability programs have caused the male flight from work–but there is no doubt they are helping to finance it.
so that may explain some of the issue of missing men
How many self-employed workers are there? While it’s not included in the jobs report, the BLS does hone in how many workers are self-employed in a given month. As of September 2021, overall there were more than 10 million unincorporated self-employed workers in the U.S. ages 16 and over, according to monthly data. The BLS breaks down self-employed workers by industry on an annual basis.

I don't understand how you can equate free enterprise, that I advocate, with communism.
Are you drunk?
