1. First this: There are Six Disneylands—that is, “castle parks”—around the world—in California, Florida, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Each Disney resort has one “Disneyland” or “castle park” and four resorts have other parks as well.

The drop in Disney+ subscribers — which was bigger than analysts expected — was entirely driven by a 3.8 million sequential decline Disney+ Hotstar, the version of the service offered in India and parts of Southeast Asia, to stand at 161.8 million at the end of 2022. Last year, Disney lost streaming rights to Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches,

Iger noted that even though the price of Disney+ without ads increased — in December, that went up from $7.99 to $10.99 per month in the U.S. — “we only suffered a de minimis loss of subs… and that tells us something.”

Disney said. International channels revenue for the quarter dropped 21% to $1.2 billion and operating income fell 64% to $131 million, in part reflecting the lack of IPL matches in the quarter.

What the heck does this mean ? Meanwhile, Disney recorded a charge of $69 million in the quarter related to exiting its businesses in Russia following the country's war on Ukraine.

So what are the new prices to enter the parks and hotels...?

Disney seems to be no longer a joy to visit due to the increase of prices. I guess giving China 48% of their revenue matters, doesn't it. Yes, Disney corporation sold out to China. Try to buy something made in America in any of the overseas parks and hotels, well... you got your answer.

I know operating expenses are not cheap these days around the world, but if Disney keeps raising their prices of entry... something is bound to collaspe .

Here is a link about what it cost to go to Tokyo Disneyland. www.moneywehave.com...

Disney can take their "woke" and go the way of the Dodo bird for all I care. I won't miss them. I've never been to one of their parks and don't have any plans to go.

I'd like to take our son because Disney used to one of those things you did at least once as a kid, but it's so expensive and Disney is just so offensive.

We won't even touch Disney+ even though I admit I would like to see The Mandalorian as it, at least, sounds interesting.

Disney is a complex mess of a company.

Disney execs famously mentioned they were going to shift, IIRC, half their content to appeal the LGBTQS12R$% bunch because said exec had nobinary kids or some such.

The public backlash was of course harsh. Iger returned quickly.

But there is the problem, and Disney doesn't get it, and hasn't for a while. The less than 5 percent of folks who identify with that nonsense are NOT big spenders on Disney stuff, they are a niche market at best, and not one with a lot of disposable income.

So, in order to appear superior, they made the commitment to remove all of humanity from content goals. Fair enough, but the big problem is most studios do not make money in the US, so they must tailor content for the GLOBAL MARKET. That is why so much "marvel" stuff is that it is easily translated to other languages. The issue is obvious, the global market is not interested in being a part of the western decline.

Now, to the theme parks. Disney is a complex mess of a company, the flagships in their mind are the theme parks. If you work at Disney, and the theme parks are open, you are working... no days off if the park is open. It is a Walt legacy, the theme parks guide their purpose, but there is a finite point for all things based on price first, and quality of experience second. 3 hr lines, 600 dollars per family per day = a problem.

Disney is a Brand, it sells the Brand at this point and not the content.

Disney is headed for a collapse, soon, as the system it created is untenable from both a size perspective and a content perspective. Laying off folks won't help much, as content takes years to bring to fruition and before Iger returned they were pandering to less than 5 percent of the population in the content pipeline = nothing good available to release and raising rates on stuff can only work for so long. Investors will revolt soon.

Yeah,

Disney died. Beyond the "new agenda" and bullcrap, they killed STAR WARS. How could you destroy the Star Wars IP so quickly?

But yeah.... this to today's Disney. Need anyone say anything further...

Seriously... watch this, it is like a min long.

First living overseas especially Asia it the Disney world really is more Asian themed other than maybe the movie hits that there got some special stuff whatever they call it these days and it's it's burning itself out because one the weather okay it's too hot to stand in line especially the Hong Kong and Shanghai and Tokyo during July and August and even September but people still go because that's when school is out but they're mostly young kids and yes it's still a family adventure for many many with very young kids but it's it's hard to put any value on Disney anymore because they they've gone commercial to where it's like they're trying to please everybody but please nobody at the same time.

Cricket is massive in India. The population in India is massive. You lose the cricket, you lose massive viewership. Just watching the Aussies getting spanked by India as we speak.... What a great sport.

How to kill Star Wars:

Take the thriving fan community and rich lore developed, and announce none of it matters in favor of the new woke world you are creating for it because you are that cocksure what you're making for it will be better. Doing that lost them a pretty big mass of eyeballs in Europe of all places.
