A 7.8 earthquake has hit Central Turkey it's bad

Well, Turkey has quieted down. No earthquakes over 2.5 recorded in the last 24 hours.

However, we had a 6.8 in Tajikistan to the East. According to Dutchsinse, this is caused by a wave that originated in the South Pacific and is traveling West. Per his historical information, that wave will continue to travel towards Turkey. He has issued a new warning for Turkey. He is forecasting a 7.3 in the next few days for Turkey. This is not good news! We are seeing the formation of a new plate boundary.

New big one would be just terrible....

Why are the plates in the move now ? Or are the plates allways moving, but now just more, and from East to West ?

You can find maps that show plate movement. The arabien plate is moving up towards the eurasian plate. The anatolian plate is caught in the middle.

The plates are always moving. The cause of the changes in the movements is up for debate. Some have tried to corelate solar activity with plate movements. We recently had an X2 with a glancing blow.

Something i started wondering after this Turkey quakes is are there
Bad seasons in seismic activitys also . This activity lately just feels like unusual, but it may be also just wrong observation also .

It sounds reasonable that solar activity could effect plates .

Lately, we are seeing something interesting things in the area. Turkey has gone quiet for a while. However, we had a good size very deep quake West of Italy the other day.

M 4.5 - 85 km SSW of Anacapri, Italy

Then Turkey started shaking a bit again with a couple of 4's.

Now, we have just had a quake south of Greece on the plate boundary at a deeper depth.

With China and Iran starting to move, it will be interesting to see what the next few days bring.
