Who says ftl travel is possible, Even if the speed of light isn’t the speed limit?

Also any space faring species that couldn’t take from the resources available in space would probably have ver little reason to travel through space, I should think anyway.

The issue of meaningful space travel isn't gravity alone btw as that's only relevant on or around massive objects and acceleration. It's space-time itself your generator would have to negate.

Space travelling beings need resources to keep themselves going unless they have truly magical powers.

Even if the have magical powers they still need something: they need... magical powers. And when a species needs something, it becomes a dangerous species.

Everyone who needs ends up depending on what he or she needs. To need is to depend, and to depend is to die.

It's most likely beyond our comprehension.

If you created a ant farm and provided food and new shelter for these ants they would think of you as a God who can create.

But they ask if you are powerful enough to create their world, why cant you cure their diseases or let bad things happen?
