If you haven't notice, money is becoming in short supply these days. As tourist now travel the world, the tourist business are telling the news that the tourist are spending less, even when they lower their prices. And hotels have cut back on their free morning buffet breakfast, that should tell you something also.

I follow your point .
But I'm not sure at all how it applies to my Topic here, meaning no offense.

Eliminate all those "sources" you have listed and we are left with....
Religion.
Or its allegory, which is just as destructive.

That is all well and good but humans are social animals so there is no way most people can give up social media (and it is a valid type of socialization as well) and turn inward, which may feel like another round of being isolated. People needing people...there's a song about that.

There is an old Latin quote that goes:
Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur.
That translates as "The world wishes to be deceived, therefore let it be deceived."
It is an old axiom that has been mistakenly attributed to many different people. It Is clearly an observation that someone made a long time ago and that has stood the test of time.
Most people are just too lazy to think on their own. It's really nothing new, though it does seem that those who take advantage of the fact have become more bold in their practice of deception. I think that this speaks more to the increased laziness and stupidity of the masses than to the character of those who actively deceive. The latter are just doing what they have always done; the former are certainly more gullible and much lazier, having allowed themselves to be deceived simply because it's the path of least resistance. The truth is too scary or too burdensome for some and they embrace the lie that makes them feel better, cognitive dissonance be damned.
Frankly, I've pretty much given up on people. Sadly, the above Latin quote has become an axiom in my life.

Yes it is a tool and should be used as such. I'm not against technology quite the opposite in fact .
Arthur C. Clarke: “Magic's just science that we don't understand yet.”
But there is a fine line between worshiping something while allowing it to run your life and simply using something as a tool ....Don't you agree ?
