Number one thing in life is to NEVER EVER TRUST your elected officials.

So let's just pay off the fisherman. Well, more alcoholizm is going to be on the horizon. Also, here we have shrines for the sea and fishing harvest/catching. I wonder if the Gods of these shrines are going to speak back now.

A planned discharge of treated water from the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant into the sea will start around this spring or summer, some two years after a decision on its release was made, the government said Friday.

A revised policy on the disposal of the treated water containing low-level concentrations of tritium as well as financial support for affected fishing communities was endorsed during a meeting of relevant Cabinet ministers on Friday.

"We would like to thoroughly explain these measures to fishing communities and other relevant parties while listening to their concerns," Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said at the meeting.

Here is a link for the picture. Hope it works.

Thanks for posting this.

I thought they had been dumping the waste water into the ocean every few months over this whole time.
Definitely not good, but not as bad as I had assumed it was.

Another S&F from me, just for keeping us up on Fukushima. Out of sight, out of mind, but to me that situation changed the world forever, no turning back now IMO. Green energy, it isn't about the color it glows from leaking radiation, but at least it's carbon free (that nasty carbon is so deadly and long lasting).

Well Greenpeace has something to say about that -

"Fukushima nuclear waste decision also a human rights issue". Kyodo News English version. Japan. Archived from the original on 2020-07-13. ^ Greenpeace International (13 April 2021). "The Japanese government's decision to discharge Fukushima contaminated water ignores human rights and international maritime law". Greenpeace.

“The Japanese government has once again failed the people of Fukushima. The government has taken the wholly unjustified decision to deliberately contaminate the Pacific Ocean with radioactive wastes. It has discounted the radiation risks and turned its back on the clear evidence that sufficient storage capacity is available on the nuclear site as well as in surrounding districts.[2] Rather than using the best available technology to minimize radiation hazards by storing and processing the water over the long term, they have opted for the cheapest option [3], dumping the water into the Pacific Ocean.

...they opted for the cheapest option. Why aren't other countries throwing money at this to find new technology?

They've got plenty of space to store the contaminated water, yet they're going to pollute the ocean with radioactive waste.

In what world does this make sense?

We are seeing scary anomalies across the Pacific from Fuki (as we say)....in fish, plant life, water...on the Western US shore.

And why is the entire crab population this year Alaska way...gone? The entire 22-23 season in all those TV shows.

I think Fukis fault....North East of you...I believe it's the reason.

Good luck over there MIM...

OMG maybe you are right and that is why it really doesn't matter at this point dumping more of the same.

My friend? I've gone from burning trash in our suburbs to them creating landfills. Mountains of trash that are real mountains.

We hide, bury our unwanteds. Body parts, garbage, dead animals, chemicals, biohazards...even Nuke waste...we just hide it.

When nothings left here...we will need to leave...or transform it....but.,we Earthlings have a very poor track record.😕

What angers me the most and I should share the hidden information here.

1. The world is full of trickery
2. The kids of these fisherman are grandparents and parents kids, and for the most part have left the family business. In Hokkaido it is really bad.
3. The government knew it was all a waiting game, they did the same thing to the farmers in Chiba, Japan with the farmers, they just waited through the years till the farmers got old and sold. More to this story about the International Airport can be found on the net
4. They knew if they waited long enough the evil bastards would win. The scare tactics by the locals just got all worn out and flushed down the toilets over the years
5. It is very very expensive to take your boat out these days and if the fish catch is small, well ... Already our canned fish is so expensive at the stores because of this. This is Japanese canned fish. Imports of can fish have gone up buy as much as 28% in 15 months now
6. Yes, I believe its to the POINT OF NO RETURN NOW

I grew up along the Mississippi River just down from this en.wikipedia.org... , and I've said this many times. These nuclear power plants are actually making the soil temperature and waters warmer . That is one reason also we are seeing an increase of Typhoons that are mega ones. This has affected the Pacific Asian ocean. Surely you have seen all the destruction in the Philippines and Japan from the crazy weather conditions, and now look what is taking place in California.

To go " green" one MUST think small and " CHEAP", like they have in India, Thailand, Vietnam and other so called undeveloped countries.

When the Daiichi plant breached I always felt it was a disaster that would keep on giving, from massive ocean life die-offs. You don't need to look to 'global warming' for the continuing rise in ocean temperatures. I never stopped following the Fukushima story and the continuing damage it's causing.

Radioactive waste never quit leaking into the ocean, and man in his infinite wisdom will once again play Russian Roulette with Nature. My bet isn't on mankind winning.
From Wiki:

October 12, 2022 - Radioactive waste water has been discharged into the Pacific Ocean since the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, triggered by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami on 11 March 2011 in Japan.

Leakage to groundwater has persisted since the disaster and was only first admitted by the nuclear plant in 2013. Water treatment began that year as the "Advanced Liquid Processing System" became operable, which is capable of removing most radionuclides except notably tritium.

It was later determined the leaks came from the water tanks from 2013 to 2014.[1] Since then, TEPCO has had a record of being dishonest on its figures and has lost the public trust.[11][12][13][14] For instance, in 2014, TEPCO blamed its own measuring method and revised the strontium in a groundwater well in July 2013 to be 5 million becquerels per liter, which is 160,000 times the standard for discharge.[15]

The UNSCEAR report in 2020 concluded "Direct release of about 60 TBq [terabecquerel, 1012 Bq] of Caesium-137 in ground water draining from the site up to October 2015, when measures were taken to reduce these releases, and about 0.5 TBq per year thereafter".

On 5 April 2011, the operator of the nuclear plant, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), discharged 11,500 tons of untreated water into the Pacific Ocean in order to free up storage space for water that is even more radioactive. The untreated water was the least radioactive contaminated among the stored water, but still 100 times the legal limit. In May 2011, another 300,000 tons of untreated radioactive water were dumped to free water tanks.

In 2021, the Japanese cabinet approved the dumping of radioactive water into the Pacific over a course of 30 years.

Anybody who thought the Daiichi disaster had been handled is mistaken. Anybody who thinks this disaster is over is deceiving themselves.

Mankind overstepped his bounds on this one, IMO. Just because the dominos are falling slowly doesn't mean they aren't falling.

There are more than 1 million TONS of radioactive waste just waiting to be released into the ocean.

The fishing industry in Alaska began its slow death on March 11, 2011. The talking heads have done everything possible to tie global warming into the massive die-oofs of seal, sea lions, starfish, sea urchins, salmon and so many other signs our Pacific ocean is in catastrophic trouble, with never a mention of Fukushima.

I firmly believe the earth has the ability to heal itself-but NOT if man continues to intervene in the matter without fully understanding the consequences of our actions. Theories never play out in real life like they do in the heads of our scientific 'experts'.

Of course they don't.
The soil around the nuclear plants are warm even in cold winter months.
The cooling water is release into water bays to cool down the water.
The Mississippi River there in the Quad Cities is a proven fact.
Seagulls are present there and so is vegetation that you'd find way down south of the Mississippi River.
I saw the changes there over a span of 55 years.
How old are the Quad City nuclear plants.
