NASA has released this video of what the Solar Dynamics Observatory saw observing the Sun for 133 days , the inset views to the right really are quite stunning.

This video chronicles solar activity from Aug. 12 to Dec. 22, 2022, as captured by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). From its orbit in space around Earth, SDO has steadily imaged the Sun in 4K x 4K resolution for nearly 13 years. This information has enabled countless new discoveries about the workings of our closest star and how it influences the solar system.

They say the blackouts in the video are caused by the Earth and Moon , they say.

I respect your opinions and wonder how you feel about the possibility of the mag field of Earth getting weak enough for solar flares to "hit the deck".
The Suspicious Observer has a few papers out their of his own on this "doom porn".

This ball of Hydrogen making Helium sure is interesting to me.

Eventually it will happen but as far as I'm aware our magnetic field is OK for the foreseeable future , if the Sun released a really strong X-class flare pointed at us it could cause us problems more so now than in the past I think as we live in a world reliant on electronics but I think that's dependent on the magnetic polarity of the flare.

Pretty cool...

They also have a movie "SDO AIA 171 Angstrom" that condenses a decade of the Sun's activity (June 2, 2010, to June 1, 2020) into an almost 49-minute time-lapse, with every second corresponding to 30 hours of SDO data.

svs.gsfc.nasa.gov...

Naturally this movie includes a number of events that have been explored previously:

* October 7, 2010: Lunar Transit
* February 24, 2011: Trebuchet eruption
* June 7, 2011: Massive eruption
* December 15, 2011: Comet Lovejoy
* June 6, 2012: Venus Transit 2012 (raw content)
* July 19, 2012: Raining Loops
* August 31, 2012: Magnificent CME
* September 29, 2013: Canyon of Fire
* October 23-28, 2013: Five days of flares and CMEs
* April 2, 2014: Graceful eruption
* July 8, 2014: Firework flare
* October 2, 2014: Mid-level flare and eruption
