Every year, you hear people say "I'm making a New Year resolution to..." and the list could include all sorts of things :

Stop smoking
Get a better job
Exercise more
Stop drinking
Save more money [ good luck with that one ]

But does anybody really do it ? I mean, yeah, you may do it for a couple of weeks or months, but then you just don't feel like going to the gym or need a cigarette or a drink to calm your nerves, that "better job" never shows and you're back to the same ol' grind.
Why do we make them ? It's not like anything is going to change, just because another year has gone by. Everything is going to suck just as much tomorrow as it does today. [ Well maybe more depending on the severity of your hangover ]

I know people see it as a chance to start fresh, get a new grip on their lives, but what was stopping you before ?

If you're going to do something to make your life better JUST DO IT. What difference does it make what month or year it is ? You can quit smoking on August 15th just as well as January 1st.

I have made one New Year resolution that I've actually kept. Just one.

Never to make another New Year resolution.

Maybe I should make not being so pessimistic a resolution.

.....yeah...that's not gonna happen.

I quit making resolutions long ago. I found that just being honest with myself and quit making promises I can't keep... Is has lowered my blood pressure immensely.

But I extend my sincerest bestest wealth and health.

Nah, my resolutions always work out. You just have to do it right. Here's my 2023 list.

1. Be an even bigger jackass once in a while
2. Tell more people about my classic sports car (1992 Dodge Stealth twin turbo, 45k miles). Starting that one early.
3. Feed the cats on time sometimes.
4. Flaunt every rule in our condo ass. as much as possible.

I'd also recommend a sideline of moustache waxing.

If you can handle the cutting edge and fast-paced lifestyle of both at once.

Got a light? I only got 5 hours before I fail another resolution

i think the turn of the year is a good time for reminding yourself what to do better. in the end, you implement such things for other reasons, after a visit to the doctor or an awakening experience. but its not a bad thing to make a resolution even though you forget it after a few days.

happy new year! may it be a peaceful one.

The only resolution that I ever made, and kept, was my dog was going on a diet.

I stuck with it, he lost weight. All good.
