I just finished watching the CBS Evening News piece where they talk about Opus Dai, a very secretive Catholic Secret Society.

They began by talking about how it was fictionalized in the book The DaVinchi Code. They said it was based on fact, and went on to explain how.

Quick points included the following:

About 20,000 members. Most are very wealthy and influence social and business life across the globe.

They interviewed a woman who said they were very sinister and were up to no good.

They showed the holy chapel where the man who first organized the organization is encased in a silver coffin.

Two members are on the committee that votes in the new pope. It is very important to them that someone gets in who allows them to keep their power.

They spoke to a member who said there was nothing sinister about them.

Bob Schieffer ended while asking the anchor on assignment the following. (non verbaitm) So what they're saying is that there's really nothing sinister about it, just secret? The anchor responded by saying, People are worried about the power these individuals wield in the corperate and social world.

I'm sure I left a lot of things out, but to sum it up in my view, it sounds very much like what we hear when you look into the Illuminati and the New World Order. Control the people, and you control the world.

If the news hasn't been on yet, I seriously suggest you watch this piece on CBS at 6:30 your time and chime in your thoughts.

Perhaps beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but at first glance she is actually pretty good looking, although just a bit on the plain side for makeup. Maybe she would really look terrific with just a makeover. I do not know anything about her "lesbo-mutant," politics though.

Having peered into this topic about secret societies and the world for some years, I have gone on about my life, but accept that they are real and they control (trying) our fate. Sometimes I myself feel satanic and without emotion, like Pat Bateman from American Psycho. It is not a revelation in the least that prominent corporate hacks feel the same or more so. I have found that, instead of spending hours arguing with dogmatic people on internet forums like this, to invest my time (now that I have accepted things like this as truisms) in bettering my life and focussing on the directly tangible. I am out there, meeting and looking, writing articles: taking an active step.

I just have no time anymore to argue about the existence of such a force. People that do are like me 3 years ago. Been there, thought of it, and here I am. As trite as it goes, the idiom, "Denial, Acceptance, Activity." It applies to much. That was textbook for me. I dogmatically argued against the existence of these guys. Now I just laugh when people do the same. Living in a cube is what I was. It hit home when I moved out of North America. On a miniture scale, it is easy for me to have someone followed and even killed. That doesn't cost too much. Perhaps some of us have even thought about it. What they can do is tenable by any stretch. I have found the only way to win is to not buy into their crap. Although I may have the opportunity to join, I wouldn't, not at this point. They have an idea about how we should proceed but I bet many of us have something else to say.

Stop buying stuff you don't need.

I am not too Surprised! I bet you the likes of Bill O' Reilly & half of the people who Work for & Own Fox News are in Opus Dei! Hey that reminds me - wasn't the Vatican actually *SILENT during the ACTUAL Holocaust*? It was only when the last Pope John Paul II became "Crowned" as "Throned Emperor" - woops I meant "Pope" which is to say Humble Catholic Priest - in the Late 70's that was changed? The Pope Apologized - too bad the Nazi's were not really Christians! Fascist S.S. Indeed! I wonder how many of these Opus Dei Jesuit Characters are in the CIA?

hmmm

One of the candidates for the new pope has very close ties with Opus Dei.

From CNN:

"Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi
Considered the most likely Italian candidate to succeed John Paul II, Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi is considered a conservative moral theologian. The archbishop of Milan, Tettamanzi, 70, is moderate-to-conservative on theological issues and is rumored to have worked on John Paul's encyclical, "Evangelium Vitae." He is close to the conservative Catholic organization Opus Dei and published an article in 1998 praising Opus Dei founder José Maria Escrivá de Balaguer. However, he also backed some of the antiglobalization protests at the July 2001 G-8 Summit in Genoa, giving a speech to a meeting of thousands of young Catholics in which he said that "a single African child sick with AIDS counts more than the entire universe." Ordained at 23, he spent 32 years teaching future priests and running seminaries in Milan and Rome. He was elevated to cardinal in February 1998."

SeeBS 'exposed' Opus Dei? Yeah right. There isn't anything to
'expose' and considering it's SeeBS that did the alleged exposing ...

About 20,000 members. Most are very wealthy and
influence social and business life across the globe.

My best friend and her family are Opus Dei. They didn't come from
'very wealthy' or 'socially influencial' ... they were poor and they
escaped Bolivia (with nothing) when the communists took over.
I'm sure it will come as a surprise to them that their daily rosary
prayers and daily communion at mass are an attempt to take over
the world.

We are Third Order Carmelites, a group that is also in the Catholic
Church. I'm sure we have a bunch more than 20,000 members.
The Third Order Franciscans number in the hundreds of thousands.
Geee .. wonder if we are supposedly trying to take over the world too?

They interviewed a woman who said they were very
sinister and were up to no good.

Meaningless. It is very easy to find someone who will go on camera
for their 15 minutes of fame, even if it is to trash others whom they
know nothing about. Obviously she couldn't give examples of
just how they were so 'sinister'. Perhaps she thinks praying the
rosary or going to daily mass are 'sinister'.

They showed the holy chapel where the man who first
organized the organization is encased in a silver coffin.

Stone, silver, wood, dirt ... people get buried or encrypted
in all sorts of ways. Again, no smoking gun there.

Two members are on the committee that votes in the new pope.
It is very important to them that someone gets in who allows them
to keep their power.
Says who? If two cardinals are
openly favorable to Opus Dei, then so what? Opus Dei people pray
the Rosary every day, go to daily mass as often as they can, and
they promise to give all they can to God and His church (the Catholic
Church by their accounting).

When I first started posting here I was amazed at the junk people
believe about Opus Dei. I looked at the poor souls dis'n Opus Dei
and I figured they were just not that bright. Then I remembered that
there was a ton of junk that I believed about Freemasonry. So that
made me think .... if all these people mistakenly believe Opus Dei is
out to control the world, then perhaps I am mistaken about my
beliefs about Freemasonry. I no longer hold Freemasonry to be a
secret society bent on taking over the planet. So I wish to thank all
of you out there that believe the bizzare stuff about Opus Dei ...
your mysterious anti-Opus-Dei thought process (which is wrong and
I know this from first hand experience) has taught me not
to believe everything that I read or hear about other groups,
like Freemasonry for example.

Thanks for the Links Axeman! I already Suspected as much from my own Personal Re-Search & Experience! I would say that there is DEF a connection between the CIA & the Vatican! Sheesh - Look it, Clinton &
Bush I/Bush II are having a Hoe Down in Rome as we Speak! The "Empire" never went away - it has existed for over Two Thousand Years & Continues to Exist! It just changes its Name & Vestments Periodically!

Make that the CIA->Vatican->Royals of England connection.

And remember, the conspiracy that is hardest to believe (upon first hearing it) has the highest chance to succeed.

If anyone wants to know how they are picking the new Pope, research 'change Agents', its a word used in Business culture, to hide its use outside Business culture, I assume.

Secretive secret society??? Welll they're surely not more secretive than the Freemasons and Rosicrucians are... and yet they also have their implications in nationa and international politics as far as I know. Freemasons are known in Mexico to have orchestrated the Mexican revolution, while the Opus Dei has been supporting dictatorships like Pinochet's regime.

As for these 'Opus Dei Jesuit Characters' i don't think there is any link whatsoever between the Jesuits and Opus Dei other than both of their founders were from Spain...

Quote: "I don't think there is any link whatsoever between the Jesuits and Opus Dei."

You have got to be kidding me!

Quote: "other than both of their founders were from Spain."

Oh just that HUH? Did you also happen to catch the Extreme Right-Wing Conservative Catholic Connection with ties to Intenational Intelligence Agencies & the Mafia? That they both Swear Allegiance to The Vatican? Tell me is there any Connection between the Knights of Columbus & the Knights of Malta/Hospitallers and Groups like the Jesuits & Opus Dei?

Like I said Fascist S.S. INDEED (I wasn’t Kidding – the S.S. was based on a Formula of the
“Teutonic Knights” - Twisted by Nazi Ideology of-course). There is even this Whacked Out Painting of Hitler Dressed up as a Knight!
I saw it on a History Channel Special – it freaked me out!

The Order is a 'personal prelature' and so can side-step the regular church hierachy. As such it has its own preists and bishops that administer to the pastoral needs of members. In this way it seems to be answerable to the Vatican alone.

Its teachings and many of its publications are for members only. This has prompted many people to suggest that the order has sinister motives. Some teachings and publications are restricted to particular divisions within the order, this further suggests a hiden adgenda which only the select few are privy to.

The order does seem to be a mind control sect on at least one level. The core membership are celibate and live in Opus Dei houses. Members say prayrs in the morning and evening and also attend a daily mass. Male and female members are segrigated. These are classic mind condole techniques. Many members are also required to perform mortification of the flesh.

The suggestion that the order is elitist seems to spring from the fact that: a) Membership is strictly by invitation b) Recruitment to Opus Dei is often from amongst university students. This practice is so prevalent that some bishops have sought to curtail it. So frequent is this c) Members have jobs outside the order and often hold influential or professional positions.

The mission of Opus Dei is ostensibly to evangelise the Roman Catholic message and to teach chists suffering by example. The aim would seem to be to strengthen the influence of Roman Catholic church thought the world and by this its own.

I won't say that it is hell-bent on world domination but Opus Dei is
somthing to worry about.

Actually, nope. JPI refused to be crowned or carried around in a chair while people waved fans made of ostrich feathers. JPII did not reinstate the practice, to his credit, in my opinion.

Opus Dei may have a webpage, but the accusation is that their recruitment techniques involve deception and a great deal of pressure. Also they have been accused of being flat-out dishonest about their history and membership.
