Chaos, Protests Erupt In Peru: Constitutional Court Calls President's Dissolution Of Congress A "Coup"; Congress Impeaches Castillo

So.... it seems the Marxist president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, was going to be impeached by Peru's congress, so he issued an order dissolving congress and taking all power himself.

Fortunately, this didn't go too well. Congress responded by basically saying "Vete a la mierda", and they proceeded to impeach him anyway. Also the country's supreme court has denounced the move as illegal.

So, it seems like this guy days are numbered.

This struggle seems oddly pertinent to discuss.

The truth is we can't really be sure of the elements within this struggle.

Is the Peruvian president trying to 'reset' the body of 'congressional' members? Or is he acting to front-load his stable of politician with people who aren't willing to cooperate with him? Is congress rightfully engaged with the population? Do the people of Peru actually have a voice in this, or is this another situation where corruption and special interest have totally usurped their intentions? Is the president megalomaniacal lunatic with focus only on his own 'status?'

The Peruvian people should know, one would think, assuming they have true and valid information to work with. The congress could very well be another manifestation of an elite "club" who deem their will the de facto will "of the people." Or they could be motivated by their infinite trust in the system of which they are part.

I suppose as a northern neighbor, I should wait and learn.

Castillo’s unexpected move comes as congress was preparing to discuss a third impeachment attempt against him after failing to remove him from power twice. The president has had a rocky relationship with lawmakers since the start of his administration in July 2021 yet the measure risks creating a backlash as it’s legality will be questioned.
(emphasis mine)

Where have we seen this behavior of politician "conspiracy theorists" before?

Nasty situation. We'll see how the traditional media characterizes this. They will be torn over the potential for left and right wing "propaganda play" - it can be one, it can be the other - and their gaming of the public will proceed as it always does - everywhere.

He should just take a queue from our Marxist Democrats and "expand" the courts and their congress and put in his Cronies.

That is what the DNC wants to do here.

Edit: Please... someone disagree with me or say it is untrue.

It seems as if the president has been arrested, and was removed from power in a nearly-unanimous vote.

In a nearly unanimous vote of members of a suspended congress.

Interesting.
