So, putting aside the obvious questionable host country, Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia and today Germany lost to Japan.

I take no pleasure in either losses.

OK, I do!

Any thoughts so far?

Declaration of interest - Come on England!

That loss was well deserved. Zero initiative, horrible defense. A disgrace.

The one that lost against Japan. Japan had good defense even though the goalkeeper was not doing a good job. It was the arrogance of the German team after the 1:0 that sealed the fate. No pushing, always going the safe route.

Japan was strong with long distance shots and the German defense just watched most of the time. Japan deserved to win.

Not really, I saw this coming. The German team is not in unity. It almost looked like they were not in for a victory. Bringing in Goetz in the last quarter was SO predictable. Japan saw this coming from miles away, it's an overused tactic from the last world championship, that's why Japan upped the defenses in late game.

They saw our weakness and exploited it time and time again. We had so many chances for scoring but kept missing the box.

Cringeworthy performance by German team - final match is a week before Christmas.... Don't mind me - I'm trolling, I'm bored by sports events.

Saw the result of the Germany v Japan game when I got in from work and I didn't take any pleasure either ...

Looks like it was a good game from the highlights a game Germany should have won on paper but Japan played well and deserved their win , the keeper atoned for his error that gave the penalty away by pulling off some great saves , Congratulations Japan !

Shame Japan's first goal was offside.

I don't really watch football but every time I see a substitution come on the field it's always a guy called Hublot. There must be a Hublot on all the teams, it must be a big family. Turn all football pitches into,,,,,eerrr,, ice skating rinks or summat.

Spain looking dangerous.

One to watch.

Not sure about all this extra time?

Perhaps they should display an official stoppage time clock to avoid doubt?

Reminds me of when refs used to seem to play Man U extra time until they scored - "And in the 110th minute the Ref makes no mistake from 9 yards"!

Etc.

When I was in Wales kept seeing signs for Hotel - Guesty.

They seemed to be everywhere.

Turned out it's Welsh for Hotel....

I'm really shocked. There are more than 350 footballers playing in the World cup in Qatar and not one has dropped dead on the pitch from the covid shot.

The official version from the usual suspects seems to be that there is a time delay on live TV so "they" can cover them up!

I'm betting that Ronaldo will go down in the penalty area like he's been shot quite a lot tho.

Now I have no liking for Saudi Arabia, at all.
But seeing them beat Argentina was a moment of immense pleasure for me.

Germany?
Yes, there's the sporting rivalry and I passionately want to beat them at every single sport ....but I'm going to whisper this quietly; I like Germans.

The biggest shame though - for one fleeting moment I thought Australia were going to be able to beat France, alas.....
Now that would have been something worth celebrating!

They may however, disappear when Qatar starts to look like they are going out. Charges will include "Looking at a beer advert" and "possibly, once, considering a same gender relationship."
