I know a lot of people think this is a very retro design. In a way it is. But where the space shuttle might have been more aesthetically pleasing to
look at, this ship is nice to look at in the respect that this is considerably safer than the shuttle was. If something goes wrong during ascent at
least you have an escape tower to pull the crew capsule clear and give the astronauts a chance of survival. And there are no wings to get hit by ice
chunks. You enter the atmosphere in an aerodynamic gumdrop that has a pretty good chance of making it to the ground with the astronauts alive. I like
that a lot. It was hard to lose the astronauts we lost with the shuttle program and harder for their families. If we are using a system that is a bit
ungainly but gets people into space and back a little more safely, I am ok with that.
