Back in 1997 my Power and Thermo Dynamics professor ranted about global warming. He said the humidity would rise and we would have record rain and snow. Now I just got a picture from my brother in Buffalo, New York. I cant post it on ATS as the ATS whatever thingy is busted. In brief its Friday 18, October 2022 @ 11:14am and hes already over THREE feet of snow and its pouring down at 3" per hour.

Weeeee.

Actually its really wild at night when its a blizzard along with lightening. However, its typically safe unless your a crazy person and go for a drive.

I recall that this is the type of snow we got back in Buffalo the night before Thanksgiving. That was back in 1978. So all things green is it global warming or global cooling as what goes around comes around.

I live outside of Columbia, South Carolina. Today it was 27 degrees F. In Buffalo, New York it was 34 degrees. Snow storms like this happen when Lake Erie is warm and its been like this .......................forever.

So here's the rest of the story.

Thundersnow hits Buffalo: Monster storm batters New York with up to 4 feet of snow

People living in the western and northern parts of New York woke up on Friday morning to a blanket of thundersnow, a weather phenomenon caused by a fierce combination of snowfall and a thunderstorm. Hamberg, a town roughly 12 miles from Buffalo, New York, is already covered in 20 inches of snow, with more snow expected to hit Buffalo throughout the weekend. Up to 4 feet of snow could fall in some areas of the state, leading to periods of time when residents have near-zero visibility, according to CBS News

Say fool its Hamburg, where I grew up.

The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore in Buffalo, marvels at thundersnow: ‘Oh yes!’

Cantore’s presence is the biggest sign of dangerous weather. He personally covered huge snow storms in Central New York in 2007 and 2014, but he also loves to cover hurricanes — like when a tree limb hit him last month during Hurricane Ian in Florida. “Historic snows will be challenged,” Cantore promised Thursday along with a forecast that showed more than 48 inches of snow possible. “November 2000 was 25″ in 24 hours...imagine doubling that total in the same amount of time!” Overnight, Cantore marveled at thundersnow that hammered the WNY region over seven hours. He shared multiple videos of lightning flashing and loud thunder on Twitter. “Loud enough on both accounts to wake you up,” he tweeted at 12:11 a.m.

When 12"+ of snow comes down in a days time, roofs start caving in. If you wanna make some easy cash post craigslist ads that you shovel snow off roofs for $50 or whatever per hour.

Pretty sure this is just lake effect snow band.
Not denying it couldn't be from climate change, but I live near the lake and we see the "lake effect" often throughout the year. This just happens to be pretty extreme the way the band is pummeling Buffalo.

I am patiently waiting for the day, here in Pennsylvania , when I can walk into the backyard on Christmas Day and pick some fresh bananas from the tree.
It ain’t happened yet.

Hah, that's what we were joking about up in balmy Buffalo. The "new world orders" next Miami.

Hmm, can they grow bananas in Miami?

That's true about roofs caving in. The pain in the arse part is one needs to shovel a tunnel so barky can take a dump outside

West Michigan got a dumping as well...more to come thru Saturday...I have 12" right now, but the roof is holding fast haha...typical Michigan roofs are made to take alot of snow weight.

Well, that is why they had to change the name from "global warming" to "climate change", the darn weather just wouldn't cooperate. So weather is going to do what it has always done, and change.

Still think if you didn't have a group of evil scientists, doing a bunch of evil things, we wouldn't have anything unusual.

That much snow around you basically cant fall and get hurt. We did it one year back in the day, and my one bro fell off the roof and just embedded into the snow mound we pushed off, and started laughing.

Last Thursday, the local weather posted a graphic. One week prior the high was 75; last Thursday the high was 45. A 30 degree change in one week. I've been in hibernation mode since then, and we still have the weekend to get through before any warmup. maybe by Tuesday or Wednesday I can actually see sunshine again.

One of these days I need to file a lawsuit against Al Gore for breach of contract. He promised me way back when that the planet would be hot by now. I'm also still waiting for my property in North Alabama to become ocean-front; need to add that into the damages.

Yep, I'm in W MI, we got a good clip of it. And here (And the source for good measure -- observations & the like state-wide.

Visibility rates were down to "I can't see the house across the street!!" at one point yesterday.
Didn't stop every kid in the neighborhood from finding (or making) hills to sled down in the middle of it (mine included)

Took that long to drop that far?

We went from 75 last Thursday to 40 on Saturday (and we know how the rest of the week progressed thus far, lol) We really do have some, er, dynamic weather up here & then some.

it got even hotter further up state, and is a real balmy 27 degrees now.

Here are the towns or villages with the greatest accumulation: • Orchard Park – 66 inches • Southwest Blasdell – 65 inches • Northern Hamburg – 61 inches • Northwest East Aurora – 54.5 inches • Northwest Eden – 50 inches • Elma – 48 inches • Marilla – 48 inches • Angola – 46 inches
Orchard Park tops storm total snowfall with 66 inches. See how much fell in your town

It's not global warming. It's lake effect snow.

I wrote that as I was being sarcastic to the greenies and the CO2 crowd. Actually I should have written about it another way.

Seeing green and CO2 I bought oceanfront in Nova Scotia in 2020 for $66,000 USD. Got a heavily wooded 3 acres with over 600' oceanfront overlooking the Bay of Fundy. We are 60' above the ocean with access 800' walk down the road.

I can also grow my own grass legally.

Al Gore stiffed you. Last I read he bought some land overlooking the Pacific Ocean. O Bama, last I read he built a $20 million dollar home in Hawaii overlooking the ocean. Its obvious he doesn't think it will be underwater. Here's the link but you have to scroll down to the pictures
