People living in the western and northern parts of New York woke up on Friday morning to a blanket of thundersnow, a weather phenomenon caused by a fierce combination of snowfall and a thunderstorm. Hamberg, a town roughly 12 miles from Buffalo, New York, is already covered in 20 inches of snow, with more snow expected to hit Buffalo throughout the weekend. Up to 4 feet of snow could fall in some areas of the state, leading to periods of time when residents have near-zero visibility, according to CBS News
Cantore’s presence is the biggest sign of dangerous weather. He personally covered huge snow storms in Central New York in 2007 and 2014, but he also loves to cover hurricanes — like when a tree limb hit him last month during Hurricane Ian in Florida. “Historic snows will be challenged,” Cantore promised Thursday along with a forecast that showed more than 48 inches of snow possible. “November 2000 was 25″ in 24 hours...imagine doubling that total in the same amount of time!” Overnight, Cantore marveled at thundersnow that hammered the WNY region over seven hours. He shared multiple videos of lightning flashing and loud thunder on Twitter. “Loud enough on both accounts to wake you up,” he tweeted at 12:11 a.m.

Back in 1997 my Power and Thermo Dynamics professor ranted about global warming. He said the humidity would rise and we would have record rain and snow. Now I just got a picture from my brother in Buffalo, New York. I cant post it on ATS as the ATS whatever thingy is busted. In brief its Friday 18, October 2022 @ 11:14am and hes already over THREE feet of snow and its pouring down at 3" per hour.
Weeeee.
Actually its really wild at night when its a blizzard along with lightening. However, its typically safe unless your a crazy person and go for a drive.
I recall that this is the type of snow we got back in Buffalo the night before Thanksgiving. That was back in 1978. So all things green is it global warming or global cooling as what goes around comes around.
I live outside of Columbia, South Carolina. Today it was 27 degrees F. In Buffalo, New York it was 34 degrees. Snow storms like this happen when Lake Erie is warm and its been like this .......................forever.
So here's the rest of the story.

The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore in Buffalo, marvels at thundersnow: ‘Oh yes!’
