Happy Friday Lovelies 🥰

The world can’t be all doom and gloom, so let’s discuss something fun.

Right now is the start of eggnog season. I have found that it is such a polarizing beverage. People either love love love it or absolutely hate it and think it’s disgusting!

I love everything about it, the texture, scent, flavor. I like it in small quantities in a thin rimmed glass (yes I’m boogie about my eggnog)
I love a little whipped cream and cinnamon to top it. I prefer mine without alcohol.

So yea or nay to eggnog for you?

Ye-absolutely-es.

Go team eggnog! I almost never put alcohol in my 'nog. It ruins the eggy-creaminess for me. I stick to other holiday beverages for the booze side of things, like Irish Creme Hot Chocolate.

I agree, I like the melted ice cream texture of it 😂

I like eggnog but would expect it to have alcohol in it. Never saw or tasted eggnog without any alcohol. So for me eggnog and alcohol goes hand in hand. It's very seldom I will drink one, only self made as a present or when it's offered to me.

Have to admit too, that the eggnog from these Thermomixers is the best eggnog I ever had, although I do not like Thermomixers, because all the love and attention that goes into a dish, is missing.

Would not go out and buy eggnog to drink it alone, it's more a social drink for me. Didn't have one in a few years though.

Blood custard is the superior product and more like a melted milkshake!

My mom made homemade egg nog for me to drink when I was a kid because I was ‘too skinny’. She whisked raw eggs, milk , a bit of sugar and vanilla together by hand. It was a little gross because there were stringy pieces of egg in there that would make me gag.
Store bought egg nog is like heaven compared to that.

It's funny you should mention this. Just yesterday I was thinking about when I should make this year's batch of homemade eggnog. I generally make about 2 gallons each year going into the Christmas season. Boy, it's good stuff when it's freshly made! Since I can't get the picture upload function to work for me, I'll just have to post this link to a picture of some I made a couple years back:

Never heard of that but sounds like flan? If so, then yes I would love blood custard more than eggnog.

You have to strain it or it is totally gross!!!

Little unrelated side note. I’m the only one on my Asian side of the family that isn’t lactose intolerant. They hate me for it. I can have dairy any ol’ time and not need a pill. It feels like my white superpower.

My brother and I did 23 & Me and I am literally 1% more European than him! Thank you Irish ancestors for giving me the gene and ability to digest milk 😍

If I'm gonna go dairy during the holidays I prefer a white Russian or Kahlua and brandy in my coffee and cream. But I do suppose Ive probably never had a real good egg nog, most times it would have been at a work Christmas party or something.

I love egg nog but it doesn't like me anymore! I have become lactose intolerant in my advanced age. I used to drink close to a half gallon of milk a day until a few years ago. I had 12 ounces of egg nog last weekend and I paid for it! For 3 days!

12oz is kinda a lot for eggnog. Maybe 4-6 oz in a setting would be better.
It’s pretty rich!

Anybody know eggnog cake?
The eggnog is mixed with gelatin and then poured over a standard type cake as a glazing. Then decorated with whipped cream. mhmmm.

The holiday cocktail menu is amazing. I love em all, including egg nog. Bailey's White Russians and Bailey's Red Velvets.
Kahlua Hot Chocolates and Kahlua Coco Bombs. Tom and Jerrys and Hot Whiskey Apple Cinnamon Cider.

Then there's the classic Irish coffee: Fresh brewed java, a shot of Jameson's, a couple drops of maple syrup, and top with whipped cream.

A local tavern features the 'Cinnamon Roll', starting Thanksgiving week:

½ cup of half and half
1 oz RumChata
1 oz Bailey's caramel
1 oz Jack Daniels Fire (cinnamon whiskey)
Heat all ingredients on low heat, except the Jack Daniels shot. After the drink is nice and warm, stir in the Jack. Add a pinch of cinnamon.

Eggnog, definitely yes, especially homemade and loaded with booze.
