Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military
veterans of the United States Armed Forces (who were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable).[1][2] It coincides with other holidays
including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day which are celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I.[3] Major
hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany went into
effect. At the urging of major US veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.
A Soldier Is...
By Kelly Roper
A soldier is many things:
Steady, solid, and strong
Optimistic, outstanding, and organized
Loyal, logical, and level-headed
Diligent, decisive, and disciplined
Intelligent, idealistic and, when necessary, immovable
Earnest, effective, and efficient
Rational, resourceful, and resolute
Yes, a soldier is many things, but above all these admirable qualities, a soldier is a hero.
Yeah, a good reminder for what happens when governments go stupid. Thankfully it ends on day. Perhaps it ain't all that simple when looking as the
history of things? With millions or who knows how long years of conflict in the evolution of life, it is a recent lesson in what is worth fighting
for.
