Parrots aren't supposed to come this far north - you'd think.

So this is rather odd.

naturediscoverycenter.org...

Once the-most numerous bird apart from the Passenger Pigeon.

Famous for their empathy - if you shot one the entire swarm would come to look, and thus they shot them all.

we all know about the Jurassic Park stuff and reviving a species with dna

we have multiple Carolina Parrakeet remains in the Smithsonian and maybe other museums

couldn't we revive them?
that would be an achievement to be proud of

They could get pretty damn close. The human race is getting scary good at genetics. They mainly focus on ethics and how reintroducing extinct species would affect the planet.

A problem with bringing back an extinct species is "How will it interact in the current ecosystem?"

It could become a mess if it turns out those birds become a feathered mass of Locusts descending on farm fields and eating everything in sight.

Don't forget what rabbits and then housecats did to Australia. And then the rats.

So just saying there may be a law on unexpected consequences just itching to go into action.

The living North American parrot:

CNN and MS-who cares:

"We must all wear masks and go into lock-down":

What's the evidence?

Ka-kaa, we shall all wear masks and go into lock-down.

true dat
but this isn't introducing an outside species. this would be re-introducing a native species.
would really love to see this happen

really good friend, who resides in the upper echelons of the healthcare industry once said that Splicing will be a thing for future society. This same guys isn't into any of my conspiratorial leanings, just pure money making.

Right, however we aren't talking millions of years between biological niches, rather, a relatively recent avain species, most likely already adapted to conditions.

Just saying. Like in the movie Pet Sematary if you don't know the outcome sometimes dead is better.

Wolves once roamed the central US. I don't think I would want them back.
