I can't see him being stupid enough to it even being something like that, bringing a "lady of the evening" to your domicile, makes no sense especially if you have the means to proceed differently. If it's an escort so why beat him up? a shakedown?

Hard to fathom that it's just a random break-in, as well as hard to believe it's just some rando who knows it's Pelosi and tries to beat him up for valuables. Even the sympathy angle? does that make sense?

First, CA law enforcement/prosecutors will make sure the perpetrator has a loaded debit-card, so he won't knock somebody else out, looking for cash.
