In light of recent comments made by Elon Musk that upon aqusition of Twitter, up to 75% of current staff will no longer be employed, some anonymous Twitter employees decided it would be a good time to make their "demands" known to the current and new owner. Time acquired a draft of the letter, which has been circulating online...

Source

A lot of deriding comments came soon after the letter was posted online, which can be read at the above link, but one comment stood out to me...

It's hilarious that Twitter's own workforce describes precisely WHY Elon needs to get rid of 75% of Twitter employees.

Nail on head in my opinion.

I don't think these people realize this is not a hostage situation and their "demands" are little more than rhetoric.

If the Twit-poster hadn't said, I would have. Entitled over, aren't they? At what point did they think it was a negotiation?

LOl calling your new boss threatening, undermining, and intimidating, then demanding that the organization continue to manipulate free speech probably isn’t a good start.

Not to be treated as mere pawns in a game played by billionaires

So now that THEY are the pawns, instead of us, they're mad?

Please cry the other way, you're leaking on my shoe, Twitter twats.

Fire them all and start over, Elon.

It is hilarious they think the public conversation is in jeopardy when they have been actively censoring dissent....

These people are clueless and tone deaf....

Maybe you could apply at Twitter and demand that he do so?

Agree 100%. Otherwise, he'll have a bunch of saboteurs to constantly deal with.

If there are any Twitter employees out there, or anyone in a similar situation, please take my advice.

Don't waste a single puff of breath on an employer. Do what is in your benefit 100% of the time. If that means cutting and running do it. Without employees there isn't a company, remember that.

In the end a company doesn't owe an employee anything and the same that the employee owes nothing back too. In layoffs it is typically a 5 min notice that a person gets to being told they are being cut as in Mr./Ms. Smith can you come into my office. After a review of benefits etc they are escorted off the property. This sounds harsh but the employee can also quite at any time too, so it works both ways.

Every company wants to build on a "culture" that they see fit for their company and so hire to that culture more than anything else. Once you make it to a sit-down interview you have passed the can they technically do the job hurtle, and then it becomes more of a does this person fit with our culture thing many times. In Musk's case Twitter massively hired to a culture that he detests, and so what does he do? How does one work with an unworkable group of people? I guess start over is pretty much all he has, and most likely the right thing to do.

The only thing I can potentially agree with here is the remote work piece, as I know he's not a big fan of it. I ended up passing on a job at SpaceX because of that; that being said, he can set the rules as he likes, as he owns the company. I decided to pass and talk to other companies that are more accommodating in that respect, just like the jackasses in this letter can do when they're inevitably downsized.
