Scientists say one of the main problems if we ever find alien life, it's our politicians

How come most of these theories sound like they have been hashed over on ATS over the years but, they are presenting this as new info, or is this also part of the prepping for disclosure.

My current pet theory is of course the politicians would muck it up in such a scenario, they probably already have and it's why the world seems like it is in the chitter. So either the aliens have already said arrivederci, or they caught humans being sneaky SOBs and they no longer trust us, but will still just continue experimenting and stealing resources, completely unbeknownst to the GP

Regardless the chances of there being an alien presence currently on earth are minuscule, the chances they are completely benevolent are even more minuscule, it is highly likely our politicians and even potentially of scientists and academia would screw up any such interaction,and if this occur they wouldn't tell us jackwad about it.

At least that's the premise behind a new study, accepted for future publication in an issue of Space Policy, which argues that the geopolitical fallout of finding aliens could lead to our destruction.

The new paper delves into the "realpolitik" of a scenario in which global governments react to the discovery of alien life — meaning it outlines how it believes that scenario would play out on the global stage.

They highlight a number of troubling scenarios if aliens were to be detected.

One of the scenarios outlined sees nations aim to gain a communication and information monopoly with any alien intelligence. This would almost certainly lead to international conflict with other nations fearing those in contact with the extraterrestrials could then gain and harness alien technology to subjugate other nations.

However, the scientists also highlight the fact that any nation that was in contact with aliens wouldn't necessarily benefit from their technologies, which would likely be too advanced to comprehend. They suggest that hypothetical technologies allowing "propulsionless drives, perfect cloaking, or teleportation" would simply be too complex for a nation to suddenly develop based on initial alien contact.

The authors write that such a scenario would be comparable to medieval scholars being handed a textbook on nuclear weapon design — which would be useless in the absence of an understanding of nuclear physics.

The paper does also suggest any unrest caused by the perceived technological superiority of a nation in contact with extraterrestrial intelligence could lead to nuclear war and the end of our civilization.

I wonder if the study considered the current situation where individual people are being contacted for some time now? That suggests that the "aliens" are bypassing the governments completely.

Additionally, in the grass roots contact scenario of bypassing the government, corporations, royalty etc., the likelyhood of a landing on the white house lawn seems unlikely.

My take on this is that a peaceful, advanced alien race would have studied us before making contact and be aware of the 'biblical' implications of favoring one over the other would create massive conflict.

Humans are divided an in competition with each other.

I suspect the article is punting the One World Government by leading the reader to arrive at that conclusion for himself which oddly hasn't happened so far on this thread.

Humans are too agenda driven and motivated by dark money interest groups to select a competent and well intended group to represent us in contact.

Our leaders can only fail us as they do everyday on the most basic of policies.


ETA: Scientists themselves aren't really much better seeing how they jump on grants for useless studies and their track record with the China virus and subsequent vaccines.

Probably so, they find no reason to do otherwise, we have nothing to offer them and are basically in the way of them getting the resources of the planet.

We are already hearing theories and whispers from the military that they don't know what they are, and they couldn't stop them if they tried. Hell the way some of the pilots sound they are amazed when they even get a radar lock on one of the UAPs. So we can't stop them from doing anything it's why the military has always acted like they don't exist. The upper echelon of the military knows and has been complicit, but now whatever agreement or deal we had has been broken. So now they are releasing certain data points and creating a new narrative.

What if the article is being put forth now, to highlight potential problems, but it isn't a potential problem, because it already happened is the angle I'm poorly trying to convey? We had our chance, one or more governments had their chance and we blew it, so now the aliens will continue to do as they wish.

What if one or more governments already had our shot trying to learn and be benevolent and we failed, the aliens decided we aren't worth the hassle, so they aren't gonna help us join any federations or turn the world into a utopia? Instead, they are gonna just let us kill ourselves and die off, as we as humans have very few redeeming or useful qualities to the aliens. In fact, we are a nuisance and we have always been a nuisance to them and they may keep some alive as specimens but as far as saving 7 billion people, it ain't gonna happen.

So we are now we are living in that aftermath, the one-world government was/is just a feeble attempt for some to show we can be a peaceful part of the galactic federation. However humans just aren't suited to the hivemind mentality, we were always about the individual. So the world sinks into chaos.

The one thing though they won't let us use nuclear weapons, or at least they won't let us use them over a certain yield. It would spoil the natural resources. There are theories our only defense is that they may not be able to live comfortably in our current environment.

There are so many theories and we now have theories about the origins of those theories.

The main part I agree with, it isn't likely if they are here, that we have interacted with them that all went smoothly. In fact, Id bet it is almost like how humans look at rats, we think they are disgusting and thusly we can experiment on them and/or kill them indiscriminately. If there are too many or an infestation they will be exterminated completely.

They should handle it like they did Russia. Years of non-stop trolling them and their leader through the media. Make up fake reports to help sell it home. Constantly demean and belittle them. Then send in the CIA, economic hitmen, and related business and political operatives to help bastardize relations to lure them into a proxy war where atomic and quantum weapons are on the table.
