I'm not familiar with the names on the team, but their credentials seem pretty solid.

The independent study will begin on Monday, Oct. 24. Over the course of nine months, the independent study team will lay the groundwork for future study on the nature of UAPs for NASA and other organizations. To do this, the team will identify how data gathered by civilian government entities, commercial data, and data from other sources can potentially be analyzed to shed light on UAPs. It will then recommend a roadmap for potential UAP data analysis by the agency going forward.

The study will focus solely on unclassified data. A full report containing the team’s findings will be released to the public in mid-2023.

For context, last June NASA announced the task force, now it looks like things are solidified and ready to go next week.

NASA… UAP, hmmm.
I am not starting out with a lot of faith that this will be very revealing for the general public.

Ah yes, NASA.
Never A Straight Answer.

I doubt we'll learn much from them. That said, you can never have too many studies, I guess.

From a link in the OP (This NASA Link)

“Consistent with NASA’s principles of openness, transparency, and scientific integrity, this report will be shared publicly,” said Evans. “All of NASA’s data is available to the public – we take that obligation seriously – and we make it easily accessible for anyone to see or study.”

At least they're trying to get the public hyped here. I'll be watching, I suppose.

"The study will focus solely on unclassified data."

Well, this will result in nothing and be a further waste of tax dollars.

Ballin'.

That single quote should outrage every tax payer.

We expect NASA to get to the bottom of this issue, while withholding information that they could use to solve the unanswered questions? Why fund it at all? Waste of tax money.

Whaaaaaaat!!

No Jim Oberg???

NASA’s No. 1 UFO and Aliens Debunker

He didn’t make the cut???

It’s a travesty!!

Now I know that the 2023 NASA UAP report will be wrong……..(heh heh heh)

[grin] Thanks for the sympathy. I'm pretty well done traveling out of Texas, except in my imagination!

Another notch in TTSAs guns.

It looks like this, while not a disclosure, has turned out to have had an impact on the mainstream UFO hunt.

NASA was never gung ho on this, particularly when Clinton started to bug them in the 90s.

Waste of tax money.

That's not anything unique, and they have a lot of it to waste, and rarely do we give a damn.

…….” The 16-member panel, convened with little fanfare, will focus its inquiry entirely on unclassified sightings and other data collected from civilian government and commercial sectors, according to NASA.”…….

Source Reuters - Oct 24, 2022: NASA's UFO panel convenes to study unclassified sightings

Why bother with the UNCLASSIFIED sightings….. which may include Swamp Gas, Ball Lighting, Lenticular Clouds, Aurora Borealis, Atmospheric Sprites, Drones, Mylar Balloons, Military Flares, Chinese Lanterns, etc…type sightings?

The Meat and Potatoes is the CLASSIFIED sightings. What! ……does no one on the NASA team have a high enough Clearance to be given the authorization to study and comment on the CLASSIFIED cases??

….. "Understanding the data we have surrounding unidentified aerial phenomena is critical to helping us draw scientific conclusions about what's happening in our skies," said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate NASA administrator. "Data is the language of scientists and makes the unexplainable explainable."…..

If it’s so CRITICAL….shouldn’t the CLASSIFIED sightings also be studied by NASA?

Oh yeah…..right…..National Security and NDA’s is the Show Stopper. All BS!

So far, I’m not having high hopes for a revealing NASA report…next year……imo

I guess their satisfied leaving the military to study its own classified stuff.

I'm no expert, but it is likely what is classified by NASA doesn’t give access to anyone but NASA-approved people and vice versa for the military.

This is likely a bandwagon effect where keeping up with the Joneses on UFOs is important. It didn't mention the money involved and sounds like just a bunch of guys sitting around a table discussing what they read about these old and maybe some newer incidents.

The 16-member panel, convened with little fanfare, will focus its inquiry entirely on unclassified sightings and other data collected from civilian government and commercial sectors, according to NASA.

Uh-oh Uh-oh, 16 is a masonic number---wow! Maybe they'll get the pyramids in on this too!

Latest words from and about Scott Kelly…..

……”UFO panel

Aside from fundraising for ambulances in Ukraine, Kelly is getting to work on another high-profile project - investigating UFOs.

He sits on the newly-formed panel of NASA’s investigation into so-called UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena), which the space agency defines as “observations of events in the sky that cannot be identified as aircraft or as known natural phenomena”.

The study, lasting nine months, will lay out a roadmap for future UAP data analysis by NASA.

“I think I would love for an alien spacecraft to visit our planet, it would be really cool,” said Kelly.

“The panel is going to look at whatever unclassified information there is and then decide what other information we would need to really nail down what these UAPs are.”

He explained there would be public hearings and meetings, but in terms of what these sightings might be, he reserved his judgement “until we have more information”.

Before becoming an astronaut, Kelly served as a pilot in the US Navy, racking up more than 3,500 hours in the sky - and while he saw some strange things personally, they always turned out to have a logical explanation.

“When you're flying aeroplanes, especially around the water, there are a lot of opportunities for optical illusions, and in space it’s the exact same way. I don't know how many times I saw something in space that I was like, ‘wow, that's not moving like you would expect a satellite or a planet to look’”.

“You get all excited and then, you know, you watch it for a little bit and then you realise it's the lensing from the atmosphere again”.

He said that every single time he saw something that looked strange, it turned out to be an optical illusion caused by a satellite moving behind the Earth’s atmosphere.”……
