Bull Run range is also loaded with tracking systems under the guise of Dulles radar stations, we had more going on during the early Covid stuff.

What happens whenbthreat level is high is skies actually get very quiet as if all Dulles traffic is grounded or rerouted and the the big bass thumping noises take their place.

Military and civilian are very distinctive and sometimes when the heavy choppers start moving around it can actually piss you off, scares the horses and can shake sh#t on the mantle.

There are always E-6Bs and E-4Bs in the air. They have to train, which means they have to fly. The P-8As have several units that are based in Florida, so of course they’re around Florida. I’ve seen six E-6Bs airborne at once. What people don’t understand is that when they’re broadcasting, everything is normal. If we were on a war footing, or even close to one, there would be tankers moving in large numbers, and you wouldn’t see the E-6Bs on trackers.

Yeah, that's the thing a lot of people have a hard time grasping. If you can watch them then there's little to worry about, it's when they are active but nowhere to be seen that the worry meter should be up.

Oh, and you'll get a kick out of this, Boeing has been testing out some new type of variant of either a twin rotor or an Osprey at night around here. You can hear it out at night flying around it reminds me of a couple of CH-53s flying about, but with only the one craft worth of lights being seeable. Any ideas?

When it gets quiet that's when you worry and why the opening stages of covid had us all wondering if there was a biological attack on, it stayed that way for quite awhile too.

Boeing has been working on a modernized CH-47 for years, and had issues with the rotors. They also have the Defiant, coaxial, pusher prop that's part of FLRAA for the Army. It's most likely a Chinook though. The Chinook Block II was supposed to have an advanced rotor system, known as ACRB (Advanced Chinook Rotor Blade), that used an all composite rotor blade that was supposed to add 1500 pounds of lift. When Army pilots flew it though, they found an increase in vibration on the ground, hovering, and in forward flight that the Army found could cause a safety of flight issue. They also found an aft rotor system stall problem.

There’s been some abnormal military flying over my head a few times the last week or so, here in L.A. Not saying it’s related, but it seems something is going on because of the abnormality.

Biden was in LA, meaning there was a CAP over the LA area while he was there, and there's a COMPTUEX going on off the coast that is getting support from various areas around the western part of the country. Nothing abnormal going on that I can see. It's the start of the fiscal year, meaning there's going to be more activity until around March, while units have money to start flying and exercising again. Happens every year.
