People who knew the real Putin are kept at a distance. That's exactly what you'd do if you use a double, for two reasons:
1 to keep people from noticing
2 to keep your double in check

Actually, that's exactly what you would do if you were immunocompromised from undergoing radiation and/or chemo treatments. Lukemia and bone marrow transplant come to mind.

You'd still rely on your inner circle and use a double, Russia would still be run by the FSB, same effect as if he were dead.

I used just a couple of examples. There are a great many illnesses that can leave a person immunocompromised yet fully functional, especially in the early stages.

A dead Putin and/or body double makes for more entertaining reading, so let's go with that.

It is possible that Putin has had something happen to him and there is a body double now. I have not personally watched comparisons, but then again, maybe the body double was actually doing all the speaking before, maybe the real Putin is actually being seen now, maybe his body double died.

Who knows, the way deception rules the world now it would not surprise me if he has moved to somewhere else and retired.
