Thanks to the madness of Ardern's government, New Zealand is facing a similar situation. Banning new permits for natural gas exploration guarantees New Zealand will rely on imported energy sources.

I suspect the war in Ukraine changed China's strategic outlook and scenarios for military contingency planning. Before February 2022, I thought China focused strategically on the Pacific and India. But they faced disappointment if China's military planners awaited the Russian invasion of Western Europe, draining U.S. military resources from the Pacific. So China is probably casting their eyes northwards toward Russia.

Interestingly, in 1941, Japan opted for the Pacific War over invading the Soviet Union. Previously, Japanese forces fared poorly in border clashes with the Soviets, and Churchill's attention was on Germany.

Proof it. Share your statistics and data. I want to see evidence for such a claim and not just a single article. Cold hard data. Sure you can provide it.

And before I get accused again maybe read this

ATS'ers are like, COVID vaccines - total psyop!

Ukraine psyop - totally legit!

Why? Because they've been indoctrinated to hate the Russkies for half a century and they don't even know it.

I completely agree with your stance on Europe creating their own problem by green energy ventures. I'm not accusing you on that front.

I live in the UK and grew up with the gas shut offs every Christmas; you can set your watch by it - here's a few articles on it. It's understandable to not be aware of it if you don't live in Europe as it was never major news but everyone felt the dip in gas supply or has to adjust cooking times every winter.

Moscow and Minsk back down fromgas crisis 2004

Congres report on implications of Russia cutting of gas supply to Ukraine 2006

Timeline of the gas crisis 2005 - 2009

Russia cuts off gas to Ukraine 2006

Europe launches civil protection mechanism as Rusia cuts off gas to Moldova - 2009

Uk gov paper on emerging energy crisis with Russiia after gas shut off in 2009

Russia cut of 60% gas supply to Belarus - 2010

Russian gas firm supplies at least 11 NHS Trusts

NHS spent millions with Russian owned Gazprom

The cut off is always mid December as Christmas is peak gas usage time in Europe; there's arguments ad wrangling for a few months and then deals are secured february before the hike in March.

I think in Europe the response is far more complex, like Orwells lion and unicorn essays recognised the human in the German side but aligned that with the pragmatism of knowing when locked in mortal conflict it takes both sides down a path of kill or be killed which is where we are heading... those who would kick all Russian civilians from their country would are they type who would have turned away the MS St. Louis,,

the bottom line for all of us is that trajectory locks us into a similar space leaving us our one true hill, our kith and kin..

we can only hope it doesn't go that far..

Putin's Western European energy gambit will fail spectacularly

That i disagree. Western Europe and US had shown how they were the ones responsible for the sabotage of the Nord Streams pipelines.

But that isnt the first that either US or someone else was caught trying to sabotage.

Gazprom has cameras underwater near the pipelines.

device loaded with explosives, which was discovered in November 2015

It has being clear for a decade that US had being wanting for Europe since they are the ones militarily occupying them that they want to sell them their LNG gas supplies but not at a cheaper price.

Europeans, German economy had being profiting from the cheaper Russian gas and its why the 2008 recession in Europe didn't impact German Economy.

Countries in the warmer Mediterranean climates are better placed to cope with energy shortages

Not forever nor endless.. The Green climate progressive agendas doesn't provide the economy cheaper electricity. Eventually these solar energy is going to rise in the prices of the electricity making it no difference.

From the Californian experience.

Why Am I Paying $65/year for Your Solar Panels?
