Somebody help me out...

We're at the mercy of our memories, what is rational to you is insane to someone else.

If you never experienced any pain, anything bad, anything wrong you wouldnt believe someone who had experienced all those things.

This is why people have alot of trouble understanding anything....they lack the memories and thoughts to actually come to certain conclusions in their brain...those conclusions take the form of billions of separate memories specifically networked together which had to be built by you spending lots and lots of effort and time thinking it all into your brain.

Also alot of people are completely stupid because of the things that entered their memory. They think playing some social game which gets you the most coins is smarter and better than actually being a creator, working very hard and actually becoming highly skilled.

They can see a number of coins but they can't see intelligence so easily, not when they dont have it.

Its much easier for people to lie, come together in agreements, pretend than it is to actually be great or talented. This is why many people choose the easy option. They choose the loan. They choose the debt. They choose the guidance. They choose someone else fix all their problems and blame everyone else for their problems.

Understand that 30% of people WILL NEVER change. They will always be gullible no matter what. They will always bend the knee. They will always follow orders. They will always follow the crowd.

Its easy for them to say a 1 liner. To simply cite someone else. To simply label you as something they hold in their mind as something not worth listening too. All of that is easy. It takes no effort. This is absolutely the reason why these people will NEVER understand anything that requires alot of consideration and thought.

It would require them taking a mental sourney out of their 'safe space' and the current generation hasn't been taught how to deal with difficult problems. They expect a participation prize sans any effort, especially critical thinking.

I doubt what is described in the OP is a generationally specific attitude.

I’m sure we have all seen seemingly rational and functional members of society exhibit this asinine behaviour.

One of the problems we have reaching folks, is that many seem to be blissfully unaware that many facts, have now been replaced with Facts™.
A variety of Fact-Checkers™ have emerged, that promote only Facts™, and don't waste their time with old-fashioned facts.
These Fact-Checkers™ act as gatekeepers to the New-Normal™ flavour of Truth™.

Not only that : but they are also blissfully unaware that the business of reporting, and newswires : is also not concerned with facts.

Have seen it here so many times : posters boldly posting this BS Fact-Checkers™ as proof, that such-and-such a conspiracy is absolutely impossible.

Sometimes it's hard to tell those folks apart, from the Shills™ and Trolls™, because of their closed-mindedness, and determination in never giving an inch away.

They are not terrified in as much as they have been conditioned with a not so "good enough" education, and exacerbated by drugs, legal and illegal. In essence, they do not own the minds they posses, in order to consider alternative information, or to change it.

My college professor once told the class that:
"If you don't think there is a Conspiracy, then you're either; In on it or it's being perpetrated against you."

The funny thing is that what most people think are "just conspiracy theories" are really just uncomfortable facts being exposed to them in a way that they can understand. If you can refute what the conspiracy theorist says, then you have can debate the facts as presented. Present your point of view and see their point of view in the process.

So, I don't think anybody is really "terrified", but I think that people just have different points of views and have a need to discuss these views.

Odd anecdote that your first two sentences made me think-of :

Just two days ago, saw a re-run of an old Star-Trek-Voyageur™ episode, where the awesome Kess tells the hilarious holographic doctor, that he has no compassion for others' suffering, because he is unable to feel suffering himself.

So the doc gives himself some kind of Levodian-Flu, or something like that, where he continues to degrade, but tries to keep his chin up. Then when the simulated flu symptoms continue past the time of the program, he starts to freak-out and complain to any that will hear him, and dramatize his condition.

Lesson learned.

Am not one to reference fiction often, but sometimes it reflects deeper truths, that we rarely speak-of.
Guess that's maybe from it's artistic side ... ?

Those whom do not have the ability to observe patterns : never get the dots we connect, because they are just unable to see those connections, and they don't believe that anybody else can have an ability that they don't have.

We are often able to see where we are stronger than average, but how many of us are able to also see, and accept the areas where we are below average ?

Very rarely will we see somebody admit, that they have a less-than average talent, in some particular field,
or aspect of life.
Perhaps even more rare here on ATS™ ?

"Fact Checking" has a whole industry based around it now, typically funded by dark money from the like of Soros level villains, or syphoned off of government allocations.

Truer words may have never been spoken. I am only limited to giving you 1 star. Yes the dots, in a matrix of dots. Not everyone can see the dots others can primarily, in my view, is because of the binders, institutional, emotional, psychological, historical, that we are issued when we are young. People grow into these binders so deeply anything that is beyond those binders, will never be seen, and can never be appreciated.

In as far as inabilities, I have admitted to some of mine here on this board.
